*gone back in*

My 9 month old has been teething the past week, on Sunday she had a tiny tooth in her mouth clear as day. On Tuesday, it had disappeared. .. what on earth!?

I've attached the pics of the day I saw the tooth and of her gums today. I want to cry... was so elated when I saw she'd got her first tooth, told everyone and now it's gone!!

Oh no! Sorry this can happen, their teeth move around a lot. I don't get excited until it's a bit further out. My DS teethed for months before he got his so I know how disappointing it is when you think it's just around the corner.

This used to happen to mine. She'd be teething a pair of teeth and I would see a slit in the gum as both would start to cut, then always the left one would come out and the right would go down, and then cut a couple of weeks later! No actual enamel ever showed through though. My girl has never got a tooth on the right side of her mouth before the corresponding tooth on the left, bizarrely.

Are you 100% certain it was a tooth - i.e. did you touch it? I don't know if you're aware of Epstein Pearls - they are a newborn thing, but basically just tiny harmless white cysts on the gums/in the mouth.

Your baby is older, but, unless you're sure it was a tooth, perhaps it could have been a little pocket of fluid?

She's clearly definitely teething though, as you can see a little bump and the top beginning to abrade on the other side, as well as those red cheeks they get, so it'll be back!

P.S. Made me smile a bit that she seems to be sharing your emotions on the matter - chuffed in the first photo and devastated in the second. :D

Just wondering did you ever get to the bottom of this? I was sure my lo had a tooth at 4 months, i could see it and feel it (others did too) and then it disappeared! He's now 7 months and still nothing! I was so gutted too after being so excited for his first tooth and having told everyone lol!
