With the help of a Sweep my boy arrived.
4am my contractions started coming thick and fast out of the blue after OH accidentally woke me, 4:50 we headed to the hospital after contacting L&D about coming in. Was checked upon arrival, 2.5cm dilated, at this point everything seemed to go slow, I was contracting regularly and it was becoming noticeably more painful, OH was fantastic [and continued to be throughout labour and beyond] his support and eagerness to help me through each contraction was amazing and both the physical and emotional support helped a LOT. After approx. an hour, contractions where becoming quite painful and I asked for some pain relief, I was rechecked, 4cm dilated, transferred to a different room and given pethidine, however it was completely ineffective, by the time I reached 5cm I was given gas and air along with diamorphine shortly after. Both of those where also barely effective, all G&A did was make me shout uncontrollably about the entire situation and yell that I wanted my OH constantly when he was right there holding my hand although he thought it was funny every time I came down off it I apologized to everyone. I finally asked for an epidural after hours of being unable to cope with contractions [I think my pain threshold is awful, I really couldn't handle it] typically the guy had just been called to an an emergency, after a total of about 8 hours since I got to the hospital [most of them hours spent shouting I want an epidural] I finally got it and it was amazing, I was pain free, continued on until 10cm dilated and gave birth to my beautiful boy at 5:55pm Sept 16th. My OH was next to me for the full 13-14hours I was in labour encouraging me, when our baby arrived he cut the cord and baby William was placed on me, I instantly fell in love as did my OH.
Little William weighed 7lbs 13oz and was completely healthy
