Hey all
I never really did post much around here but was on everyday and so wish to share with you my birth story, as I know reading through others helped me before it come to the big event

On the Sunday the 19th of February, I woke up with a headache that just didn't seem to want to budge, and due to previously being in hospital with suspected preeclampsia, I decided to head up their. When I got their, my blood pressure was 160/100 despite already being on blood pressure tablets 3 times a day, I had 2+ protein, and some levels in my liver were elevated, not quite sure what they were now tbh. I was told by the doctor they would keep me in overnight to watch my blood pressure which I wasn't too happy with, obviously I was in the best place, but being in and out of hospital the past couple of months and always returning home empty handed was tiring. Was just ringing my dad to tell him, when the doctor returned with a midwife stating that she had spoken to her registrar and they had decided to induce me in the morning! Going from not knowing when your baby is coming to realising she's just a few days away is a shock I tell you lol.
Anyhow, next morning, got examined and was already at 2 cms ^^ they inserted a pessary and told me that it was usual to start getting period type pains off it and not to get too excited as they weren't contractions lol. Well, around 12pm, I started to notice every ten minutesish as sort of heavy pressure in my bum, at first I thought was just constipation
I kept going to the toilet, and nothing would come so to say, and noticed that the pains were getting stronger. However, with all the emergencies they kept having in the hospital and no delivery rooms, they told me I wouldn't be able to have my waters broke untill the following day. In the end, I went to the delivery room at around midday on the Tuesday, and they broke my waters.
I tell you what, their was no mistaken this! The waters just kept coming and coming, and every contraction I had, more would just gush out. By now, I had been having the pains for around 24 hours, and wasn't in so called established labour until they examined me at 12, and found me to be 4cms. All the pain I was feeling in my back, my stomach didn't hurt one bit! All it felt like around the front were intense braxton hicks, I'm not sure if this was because she was back to back, or if it is how it's meant to be lol. They were bearable until then I would say, but they soon started to become stronger, after the midwife performed a sweep aswell.
I started on the gas and air, and at first hated it, it made me feel completely drunk and sick, but the midwife told me to push through that initial stage and I would soon love it, and she was right. To be honest, you can still feel the pain through it, but it's a whole lot easier to deal with, I think the way you breathe with it helps a lot.
I continued to labour up until about 7cms at 8pm, where it really started to get painful. I requested an epidural and due to their being 3 emergency caesarians, I had a long wait, and in the end, decided to have some pethidine, something that I didn't want as I was told it would make me ill, but actually wasn't too bad. I remember still being able to feel the pain, but my head was in a completely different state about it sort of thing, it's hard to describe, it relaxed me that much that I was able to sleep between my contractions lol.
In the end, I got my epidural, wasn't too bad and was enjoying being pain free and being able to sleep. However, about an hour and a half afterwards, the line fell out and I had to have it redone. Going from being completely pain free to smack bang in the middle of contractions at 8cms was intense. I always thought I would be the sort of person who wouldn't shout or scream to be honest, but come away not being able to speak cuz of how sore my throat was aha.
Got my epi redone, was back to bliss, pain free, but started to get the intense pressure in bum again, like I had to go now. I kept telling the midwife and she was like you're not ready to push yet, and I tell you, their is nothing more frustrating then someone telling you you're not ready to push when they haven't even examined down their to see what stage your at. Got examined, and yeah, I was at 10 cms, silly woman ¬¬. They told me that they wanted me to wait so long before I started pushing to help with the pushing stage and the contractions would bring her lower down, and mean I wouldn't have to push as hard.
Now, being a high risk pregnancy, high blood pressure, being overweight and having group b strep, my baby was monitored all the way from my waters being broken to her being born. And with every contraction, I started to notice that her heartbeat would drop, usually it was around 140, but every time I had one, it would drop to around 70. This is when the doctors and other midwives started to come in. They told me that because she was lying back to back, it was more likely that her cord was becoming compressed when I had a contraction or something, was quite out of it at this point, and they told me that if I didn't or couldn't push strong enough, they would take me down to theatre for a caesarian.
Now this was my worst nightmare, and still is. I was always told that I wouldn't know when to push with an epidural, but believe me, their is no escaping that feeling lol. Anyhow, got to pushing, and all in all it took me about 20 minutes to get her out, pretty good I think for a first birth. I was always scared that I wouldn't know how to push, but took my sisters advice in pushing with my bum, asif I'm trying to have a poo, and she flew out.
The following few minutes was the worst of my life. The reason her heartbeat kept dropping was because the cord was wrapped around her neck twice
My partner was all set to cut the cord, but they cut it themselves and whisked her away to get her breathing. It took about 4 or 5 minutes in the end to hear her cry, I've never felt so helpless or empty in all my life. But thank god, she's well now. Once she started crying, the brought her to me and I just couldn't, and still can't, believe just how perfect she is.
I suffered with a 2nd degree tear which they stitched up their and then, and to be honest, apart from the stinging when sitting down or weeing, I didn't really feel like I had just given birth. It's 8 days later now, and all that's painful really is the stitches, and they're not even that painful.
Oh, just to add, first poo isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Weeing is worse.
She was born at 38+6, weighing 8lbs 2oz and I love her more then the world. Lol, just realised how long this is, thanks for reading if you got this far and hope you enjoyed it
PS sorry if their is any spelling mistakes, just decided I'm not going to read all through that after spending so long writing it aha.
