Hi guys, just wondering if any of you have taken back to back maternity leave? I'm 33, just had baby no 1 last September and due to my age we are planning on going for no 2 in June.

I hate where I work, they made my life a misery whilst pregnant and scared me so much re the birth that I was referred to a specialist midwife who suggested a referral to psychiatry. We want our children to be close in age but if I were entitled to another period of maternity pay that would be an added bonus! (I have worked since 18)

Just wondering what your experiences are re this?

Many thanks x x

hi
im on maternity now well...........on annual leave between maternitys
i had my 1st son in march last year and when he was 3 months we fell pregnant again so i was due to come back to work yesterday but im due in 15 days so I cant but they owed me annual leave so im on it now untill 1st april when my second maternity starts.
im working for NHS but it dont matter where you work as long you started 1 year before your first maternity you are entitled to go maternity again.Im assuming you wont be coming back to work after second maternity so you going to be getting paid little less than before.

good luck

That's brill, thanks so much. Am waiting for CAB to call back but the person I spoke to wasn't great tbh. I'm a social worker but I work for an independent organisation. I feel a bit worried about telling them that I'll (hopefully) be pregnant again as I know they will think badly of me, they are not very child focussed at all, but I very much want more children, and if this site has taught me anything, its that easy conception and healthy pregnancies are not to be taken for granted, hence I feel that I should put my family first.

I'm super pleased for you and hope the pregnancy is going well. I only get Stat Maternity pay anyway, so its about £530 a month - which is a huge drop in wages but rather that on baby no 2 than nothing. I doubt v much I'll be going back, I think I'll poss try some agency work that fits in around my husband.

I guess you will be very busy soon! x

i know how you feel when you have to say to them that you going to try for another baby well my advice is DONT SAY ANYTHING just wait when you pregnant again and then tell them they cant judge you who the hell they think they are!
when i fell pregnant for second time while being on maternity i was worried too what they will think about me but I know my rights and of course I wasnt even thinking to get rid off it(because it was totally unplanned birth control fail) i told them 15 weeks before due date(you have to tell them 15 w bf due date) and my manager said"BUT WE WONT GET COVER FOR YOUR ABSENCE FOR ANOTHER YEAR BECAUSE OF BUDGETING CUTS"and I replied "sorry thats life and im not coming bk to work after my second maternity ends" " as far as i know she has no right to even say something like that and thats it.
they can think whatever they want like I said we have our rights, we work our butts off and we allowed to be pregnant whenever we want ARE WE?
and about my pregnancy thank you for asking yes its going well except Carpal tunnel sundrome,SPD and other related aches LOL.im having elective c-section on 28 march due to traumatic previous birth
head up darling
I hope it will worked out for you!:hugs:
