Hi ladies,

I am feeling rather achy and fed up after just getting home from the hospital, and a good old moan and advice session is needed from my end I'm afraid! :nope:

The procedure itself was actually OK, a little uncomfortable, but not painful at all, but I do have a few issues with it.

Firstly the doctor had difficulty actually performing the HSG, and it took 8 (yes 8) separate attempts to actually get the cannula into the right position. He said I have a 'slight bend' which made it difficult for him to get right into the uterus as he had hoped, so after 8 attempts said "this will have to do" and injected the dye. He said he wasn't in as far as he had hoped, but he could "just about" make out my tubes and said everything seemed clear to him. (I'm not too sure how satisfied I am with 'just about')

I asked him if my 'bend' could have caused any problems and he said no, so I'll take his word for it for the time being.

Most people would be ecstatic to be told their HSG was clear, but I was slightly heartbroken. So now me and my hubby are right back at square one ](*,)

HSG - Clear
TV Scan - Clear
1st Day 21 bloods - indicate ovulation and hormone levels are fine
2nd Day 21 bloods - indicate ovulation. Slightly elevated prolactin levels - re test ordered.
SA - All clear. Swimmers and swimming, motile and ready to go. Slight low volume but could be down to husband having only one testicle, and not thought to be an issue.

So what comes next? We still have another 8 weeksbefore we have a follow up appointment with the fertility specialist, who will no doubt order another test, and it will be 12 weeks after that until our next appointment to discuss the results of that, then 12 weeks from there etc, etc, etc.... (don't get me wrong, I am very very appreciative of the NHS and it could be MUCH worse, but I am grumpy today and having a good moan, I apologise)

I am 23, my OH is 25. We don't smoke, never have, don't drink, eat healthy, exercise, are as healthy as they come. SO WHAT IS WRONG!?? I just want one test to tell me "AH! there is the problem!" It's now 23 months since we started TTC and everyone around us seems to be falling pregnant left right and centre (7 new people exist in our family since the start of 2012, yes 7!!) we are also TTC in secret, and the further we get into this thing, the more I wish I had somebody to talk to about it, but the harder it gets to actually admit to what we've been doing in secret too, like a stupid vicious cycle. My other problem is work, I'm not quite sure how many different tests and appointments I can make up, without them beginning to ask questions.

Ok, sorry for my little rant. But basically I need a good slap across the face, to be told to pull myself together, and if possible, what are the next steps we can be expected to take, because so far the doctors are telling us nothing :dohh:

Many thanks in advance (if you made it this far!)

Just want to send you a big hug and let you know that you are not the only one feeling like this. We are 14 months down the line and have our first hospital appoint next week. All our initial tests are normal, my cycle is like "clock work" yet nothing seems to be happening. We have added stress of age , me 36 and OH 45! I haven't told family either and am pondering what excuses I will make up for work as very reluctant to tell people at this stage. Just to say you are not alone, I have the same frustrations and worries too.

Thanks Bluebell :flower:

Best of luck with your doctors appointment! We felt really positive after our first appointment, new tests ordered and a plan of action, but now that we've achieved all of these things in the 4 weeks proceeding our appointment, we're kinda stuck until the end of March! I hope you feel as happy as we did when you leave!

I am desperately thinking about what to tell work, especially as the doc said that one of the next options MAY be a lap and dye...which will require at least a couple of days off of work, if not more. I suppose I have a while to think of a decent excuse! I know that women undergoing fertility treatments such as IUI and IVF have the same rights work wise as pregnant woman, but no idea about woman undergoing fertility testing. Stress stress stress
