hi ladies i had my section last weds so 6 days ago was wondering if anybody else had back pain afterwards? my back is so sore, and when i stand up i get a pressure feeling on mybreast bone, docs wouldnt let me leave hospital until they ruled out thrombosis etc so had ekg and bloods done all clear, midwife this morn said its maybe from the epidural anybody else had this?

I had a emcs 15 weeks ago and my back still hurts from time to time, i remember coming home from the hospital and being in agony with my back, i couldnt even stand long enough to wash dishes because of the pressure but it does get easier as time goes by, hope u feel better soon :hugs: xx

I had an EMCS 5 years ago following a long labor. I had back pain for at least the first year after and always at the site of the epidural. They had to do my epi twice, as they put it in wrong the first time. I always blamed it on that, but I'm not really sure if that was the problem.

Anyway, the pain is gone now :)

I had severe backache from my epidural. Hurt more than my operation site. Was caused by the 2 epidurals I had and then a spinal block.

Yes...my back actually went out at around 6 weeks...by 6 months, it was almost normal...still not quite right, though...

My back was really bad at the hospital. Now 6 weeks later it is much better, but still hurts from time to time. I blame the epidural too. I had a spinal and epidural during my long labor. Then had to remove the epidural and do a spinal for my c-section. (spotty epidural couldn't be used for c-section)

i had a failed epi 4 years ago now, and still suffer with back issues since, not regular and occasional flair up's but always in the same spot, the spot where the epi was done.

Yep still get it now occasionally and that's 10 months later!

I think it's something to do with your tummy muscles being weaker due to surgery and so more strain is put on your back muscles. I only notice it if I've had a particularly busy day where I've been very active and when I finally stop its killing me

Back pain is very common after pregnancy and birth, whether or not you have an epidural or spinal. Your tummy muscles are weaker and your core muscles have adjusted over 9 months to accommodate your bump and now the extra weight etc has disappeared suddenly. Also, constant lifting baby etc will take its toll on your back.

Yoga and Pilates are really good for targeting these muscles.

Hi there, I had eight or nine attempts at spinal before they got it in the right place. Only felt it after a couple of weeks around where spinal had been done but now (baby 11 weeks old) and the pain is all over my back. Hoping it will go soon as really gets you down.xxx
