Hi I'm 38.5 and I am on here to try and get some hope.I had my FSH tested at 21 days and it came back 6 and Then realised they could test AMH... and it came in at 1.6:( the FSH came in at 6 again...that was all tested on day 3 of my cycle...

I am on here to try and ses if anybody else has similar results and if there is any hope for me.I married my 32 year old partner in early octo this year and now I am worried I might lose him..... he wants kids.he is getting tested too

i have always ben upfront with him telling him I didn't know where I was at fertility wise... and that this could be a big issue and things could go wrong.. but he has been very shocked by the findings...I always knew deep down there would be an issue and I have an appoint booked for next week with a FS.

what can I expect from such a specialist and what things left of field could shock me? I just don't know what to expect and am scared.

the doc who did the AMH test suggested acupuncture and herbs etc...

I don't know where to go from here.My life didn't go the way I wanted it to and I met somebody way too late in life..

Do i EVEN HAVE ANY HOPE?

Talk to the FS before you panic!

They will probably talk to you about injectibles to stimulate your follicles. Depending on that, IVF may be a great option for you. If you respond really well to the drugs, you may be able to do a IUI or even still conceive naturally.

If they run more tests and you don't get the news you want, egg donation may be another option for you.

Don't lose hope :)

Take a look at this thread if you haven't already: :)

so what are injectibles? sorry I am new to all this and obviously clueless ... so is it my follicles not producing and they would need to stimulate them? I know I have to wait for the FS but its killing me:(

thanks for your reply...

injectibles = fertility drugs that you inject every day to stimulate your follicles to grow.

Yes and there's also DHEA & CoQ10 for those of us with diminished ovarian reserve. I was diagnosed with fsh 16 and 1antral follie left in Feb with less than 5% chance of conceiving. I started taking coQ10, DHEA, NAC, Inositol, and a bunch of other antioxidents vit E, omegas plus using soft cups...we conceived in Sept. m/c in Oct but the point is we saw doublelines! THEN when i had my u/s 3 weeks ago to ensure the m/c had cleared they counted 4 antrals in there with a nice thick 9mm lining.

Just do everything in your power to support your body right now.

I saw a naturopath doc to see if foods were promoting an autoimmune (inflammatory response), my fav eggs were off the charts with reaction. When you have inflammation your body is less likely to play host. We're trying again and this time I have WAY more hope.

Doctors assertions aren't the end all be all of the situation.

I have read all about the co enzyme etc..but want to get some info from the FS about what to do next...

What I found interesting is that I think I do have some inflammatory problems I have always had high ESR..which is a rate that they test...its been high most of my life... so THIS could be a big issue..

is it likely that the FS will look at a high ESR rate...

Is there any hope? Everybody is saying I have no eggs left.....I can barely get through every day I hav eto wait till nest tuesday...:(

Funny, my fx told me there was nothing I could do with my diminished ovarian reserve. Ironically, they said that when you do fertility drugs, sometimes those sleepy antral follicles wake up and start maturing the eggs within them every month. Unfortunately medical docs never recommend supplements (mine said supplements were a waste of $$). I don't believe that. You do what you feel is right for you.

your FSH is very good so that's a start. Generally high AMH/FSH only means that you may not react well to ovarian stimulation during IUI/IVF. One option that I am considering is doing natural cycle IVF (IVf without stimulation) it showed better results for over 35 with lower ovarian reserves. Also you still have good chances to get a natural BFP if your DH's sperm is good. Low AMH/FSH is about quantity not quality. Also, low AMH/FSH is a sign that you should not waste any more time and should start TTC, which you are doing anyway. There are millions of things that you can do to improve your chances all to do with your diet lifestyle. coq10 is great. acupuncture and Chinese herbs also help. I gave up coffee and now trying to reduce my chocolate intake. drinking veggy juices every day. It may take a while to see the results but all these small changes should definitely help whatever route you will take.

Thanks for responding, I have decided to give up coffee,(loved a caramel latte) slowly giving up chocolate. My hubbys test showed he was a little low so doc has him on Menevit a vitamin supplement for mens fertlity and said to get re-tested a month from now.I live in australia.Don't get me wrong I knew about this stuff but its cost a fair bit and I just don't have that money for that all the time...theres also the female version but thats more money too..I want to see what the doc says on tuesday before shelling out more money for supplements.

Doe any body know the correct dose of Co enzyme I'm only taking two 75 mg ones.. should I be doubling that?

I want to see next week what is said to me from the FS before going ahead to get acupuncture and chinese herbs.I have also taken up grapefruit juice although I heard on the news a few weeks back theres something not good about grapefruit juice(not for fertility) its to do with some other issue.I missed the story on it
Thanks for your advice..I was a once a day caffeine addict and I know now I just have to give it a miss..hubby loves a good coffee too apparently no good for sperm..trying to get him off it.

I do not think there is a right dose of coq10. I started with 30 and it did not have any effect on me, then I moved to 300 and my FSH got down after 3 months. I had 2 month break from all supplements and only did Chinese stuff but as soon as AF arrives will go back to 300
