Bath after cestion?

I usually wait until my stitches are out and just shower up till then .. congrats on your little boy x

Yes hunni totally fine. Enjoy your bath, the 1st one after a c-section is amazing x

I was told no baths for 6 weeks (showers are fine). I'm not sure why though. If you weren't told not to have one then it probably isn't that big a deal.

It's my understanding that you shouldn't take baths for 6 weeks because the cervix can take that long to close and when it's still open it's susceptible to infection.

Yeah I was told 6 weeks also. Basically avoid anything that can creep up there and introduce new bacteria to the vulnerable uterus :)

Wow really? I've had 3 c-sections and never been told to wait 6 weeks... Just to wait until stitches are out and that's it! Maybe things have changed since having my DD 4 years ago... Sorry OP if i did get it wrong x

I've been doing some reading regarding having a bath after a section... The odd page says 6 weeks, but most say its fine to do so before then

How will I feel physically after my caesarean?

A caesarean is major surgery, and it will hurt afterwards. You may feel you can't do anything on your own. Even small movements, such as shifting up the bed, may require something or someone to hold on to. It will hurt to cough or laugh, but supporting your wound with your hands, or holding a pillow over your tummy, will help.

To aid your recovery and ease your discomfort:

Eat and drink as soon as you feel hungry or thirsty. Drink plenty, and eat fibre-rich foods to help prevent constipation. Ask the nurses for peppermint water to soothe the pain of trapped wind, which often follows surgery.
Wear loose clothes and cotton underwear. Wear knickers that are a size bigger or borrow a pair of your partner's boxer shorts. You can also get special knickers made from stretchy gauze to fit over your scar from the National Childbirth Trust (NCT).
Your wound dressing will be taken off the day after your caesarean. You won't need to put another dressing on it, unless your midwife or doctor tells you to. Keep an eye on your wound for signs of infection, such as extra soreness, redness or discharge. Tell your midwife if you spot these signs, or if it looks like the wound is coming apart.
Wash and dry your wound daily. It's fine to have a shower or bath and to use soap on the wound, as long as you rinse it off. You can use a flannel, as long as it's freshly washed. Pat rather than rub the wound and gently pat it dry with a clean towel.

Wow the 'Google' info is all over the map lol. One week, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, no weeks :)

Thanks LittleMinx, never really thought to look into it, why can't there ever be a straight answer :)

Yeah seems to be a bit of a mixed information on it... I always waited until stitches were out and wound was clear x never been a problem with any 3 of mine x

My midwife told me to have a soak to remove the bandage, was less than a week x
PS My stitches were dissolveable ones.

Well I already had one now  and it was amazing! Apart from DD coming in half way through for a number 2

I'm sure the midwife would have said something if it was a defo no go! Thanks girls xx

Iv been confused as so many people are saying 6 weeks. I had sections with both mine and had baths both times the next day on the ward, and every day ever since. I could not have gone without a bath!

Wow I was never told not to bathe after my c-section with dd so had one the day after I came home from hospital, so 3 days or so

Doctor told me I could bath right away after both my csections.... Every doctor has a different opinion on this.

I was told 2 weeks with DD and 6 weeks with DS so the recommendation is all over!
