Bathtime. ..

I was told just to give a sponge bath when he still had his cord attached...not to submerge it in water.

me too . you should not get the cord too wet . it took mine lo a month for his cord to heal :( . are you cleaning it up with alcohol ?

I wouldn't due to risk of infection. I gave my baby a flannel wash but not a bath until the cord was off, it took two weeks.

Xx

You can give your LO a sponge bath in the meantime but I was given the same advice.. no baths till cord falls off.

our LO was bathed in the hospital by a nursery nurse when he was about 12 hours old or so and she did not say anything about not getting his cord wet.

Yes just dry with cotton wool afterwards or top and tale lo might be easier x

sponge bath only! you don't want to get water on the cord or clamp at all otherwise it'll cause infection & won't dry up enough to fall off properly.

I bathed both my babies. Was never told not to. Elsie's fell off at 6days old. Shit myself when I could feel summit hard sticking out her back when I took her out her Moses basket... It was the clamp! Neither had an infection. I always kept the cord outside their nappies to get air to it more.

Wow I can't even remember what happened to my LO's little clamp thing :S It wasn't there when she had her first bath at three days old and the MW at the hospital just bathed her like normal, cord under water and everything. Nobody told us not to so we did the same at home and the little that was left fell off after a week. Going to go and ask OH whatever happened to the clamp!

We werent told to do anything differently although her cord fell off at 2 days old! I
Still have her clamp it's in her baby box of memories

I wouldnt coz it needs to stay dry in order to fall off. We bathed LO with hers and it took 3 weeks to fall off coz it was too moist to dry up and come off.

Is it wrong that I have Elsie's in a box, in her memory box, with the cord still attached? Lol

You can bath LO if you want, but it might be easier to top and tail.

When Callum's fell off it fell out of my hands onto my floor and my dog grabbed it and ran off with it  I got it back from her but I had to throw it out after that :haha:
