BBT Question - "Spike" Confused

I am so confused ... I just read this online:
"You are most fertile on the day of the temperature spike and on the few days preceding it. Some fertility experts suggest you could still conceive if you have sex within 12 to 24 hours after the temperature spike."

I thought one is most fertile the day BEFORE the spike and once you see a spike in your BBT, it's probably too late to conceive.

Hhhhmmm ... Someone please help me understand. Thank you!!!

The few days in the lead up are good days to BD. The spike is supposed to indicate ovulation and your ovulation day is supposed to be your most fertile. Your opk's can show the build up of LH which shows your ovulating soon. But it could also mean up to 36 hours later. I would still BD after the spike. x

Thanks Cooch! I always thought that the day before the spike was my MOST fertile. WOW - well, this little bit of information changes my game plan!!!

I'm glad I begged DH to BD on the day of the spike for "justincase" as I just want to cover all the days. Poor man can't keep up with me these days. LOL!

I'm hoping for BFP in 10 days ... FingersX.

I actually meant- I would still BD after the positive OPK, rather than spike as I have been assuming by spike you mean temperature. The spike is only handy when your trying to work out whether you ovulated or not. Its not good to go by it for BD as ovulation has past, then it will still be too late. I don't do temps at all as I don't see the benefit. Your better doing OPKs or using a fertility monitor as a positive on it gives you at least a couple of days notice to DTD. Sorry was getting confused earlier.
