Dear ladies,
I am keen to read about your experience with bed rest/rest after embryo transfer. Should I stay in bed or can I follow my daily routine? I hear so many different recommendations. My clinic says rest for 4 days, than back to normal but no heavy lifting. Others say no need for bed rest.
Here this Reuters article says women who got up immediately after transfer had higher likelihood of getting pregnant and lower chances of miscarriage.

What is your experience? please share.

I have had 4 fresh IVF transfers and 2 FET's all with 3 days bedrest even though my physician does not recommend the bedrest except for the day of transfer. I do it anyway, because I spent too much money to sit around wondering and worrying if I had only done the bedrest would it have worked. None of the fresh cycles took, and one FET did not take. My last FET did. Really think it comes down more to the embryo itself, then the bedrest. But I wanted to leave nothing to chance. I have another transfer on 2/26 and I am doing 3 days bedrest again. good luck

adr75050, thank you for your comment. great your FET had worked out! i agree with you, better safe than sorry. the research reported by reuters has puzzled me though, as for what is actually "safe". Some say walking/moving around increases blood flow to the uterus, which should help implantation. but i think, as you say, it's mainly about the embryo. i got pregnant ayear ago, but miscarried at 12 weeks. i rested after the ET as i had a terrible headache on the transfer day. i never get headaches so i felt something was going on...good luck to you too!

My doctor advises 2 days of bedrest for all of her patients following ET. To date, I've done 3 transfers (one fresh with 2 non-biopsied embryos, and two frozen transfers with singleton biopsied embryos). Of those, we've only had success so far with #2 (frozen transfer). I followed the 2 days of bedrest and on day 3 took it easy around the house.

Disneyfan88,
Thank you for your comment. I have just turned 40 and misscarried when I was 39 and at that age one should be almost ready for a miscarriage, which isn't to say it was easy. But it was an unforgettable experience which has definitely moved me forward both on the IVF journey and spiritually. Although I have all hormone indicators in order and apparently a solid egg supply for my age, it has helped me to realize the key is the quality of my eggs. I have researched a lot on that and am now taking supplements to improve it. Let's see if it works. I think it's not just an egg and a sperm. It's an egg + sperm+ good luck :)
Take care and fingers crossed!
