My LO screams all evening, today it started at 3! He will usually settle at 10/11pm, how on earth do I get a bedtime routine!! Ideally I'd like bath bottle bed at 7pm ish and then we can feed him when we go up at 11ish but how do I do it?? I am really struggling!

My lo i the the same, screams in the evenings. i am desperate for a routine also but i think when they are colicy you just have to go with it. We do give him a bath between 6 and 7 and massage his legs, he likes his bath and massage but after that he usually starts the screaming again so his bedtime varys every night but he like your lo usually calms down by 10/11.
I feel bad as si amd mil are always on about routine but how ar eyou meant to stick to a routine with a colicy baby??

I had very colicky baby and yes he would sometimes start at 3 sometimes earlier and be uncomfortable and crying from then all night often so i feel your pain. Tbh there isnt alot you can do in terms of getting in a routine and I didnt try at 3 weeks but I had the luxury of it being my first and had the time off, I understand if you feel you need to. I tried sort of a routine at 8 weeks and im glad I did. I started to bath him and feed him and put him in moses basket about 8 (and this would sometime be 10!)but from that point on if he cried I would soothe him feed him walk up and down with him but then put him back in the basket. I wouldnt turn a bright light on, no laughing/playing I wanted him to get it was bedtime and didnt play etc again till morning. Whe his colic did go (and it does!!)at about 12 weeks i kept to the same routine and now he wakes up once a night and sometime sttn. Dont feel pressured by others making you do a routine bedtime is the only thing ive stuck to but feeds/everything else no pattern at all xx

TBH I didn't bother until 12-13 weeks when he stopped screaming so much.

A nice little bath/bottle routine sounds great in theory, and I'm sure it's fine for most babies, but screaming colicky babies? Just try and cope with it as much as you can and don't worry to much about things like that.

You can try and do things in the same order if you wish but actual colic screaming is so unpredictable and frustrating, trying to impose some sense of order/structure on top just made me go nuts...

:hugs: I also had a very colicky baby and there is probably not much chance of a routine until they grow out of that phase. It is so hard, I think the best thing is to get a sling and just walk around with lo in it it does make it a little bit easier for you and ease the crying a little bit.

you could try infant massages that focus on the tummy
