My little lady sleeps really well on a night, generally she only wakes up for one feed....but evenings are a different story!! From about 7.00 she cries, only wants to be held, won't be put down and is generally unhappy! We spend all evening holding her on the sofa till she comes to bed with us at about 10.00. What makes this extra hard is I have a six year old that has to be sorted and put too bed too!!
So today at nearly seven weeks I am biting the bullet and am going to attempt some kind of bedtime routine, I'm hoping bath about 7.00, bottle upstairs and then into Moses basket! Have loaded my iPad with things to watch and will stay up there with her until she falls to sleep, but I am so so nervous!! So wish me luck lol!!
Anyone else attempted something similar?

Good luck. E starts to get teasy from 5 onwards so we have a bed time routine in place from 6, bath bottle bed by 7. Hope it's a success for you :)

Thanks Dani, does Esme go down pretty easy? Isla does at ten and will go straight in her Moses basket but am worried at seven it will upset her?

Yes she's normally so shattered that she falls asleep pretty quickly. Sometimes it takes a bit of rocking and a few dummy attempts but within 30-40 mins she'll be asleep x

Maybe she needs to go to bed even earlier, sounds like she's overtired by the time you start winding her down? My daughter needs to go to bed between 6-630pm, she's been like that since five months old. My husband doesn't get home until 7pm so he doesn't get to see her except in the mornings but it's worth it.

7 week old is very early for a routine in my opinion , my LO is just 15 weeks and only now am I thinking about putting her down for the night instead of just sleeping In the room with me till im going to bed . At 7 weeks is she still feeding every 3-4 hours ?

I dont want to jinx it but actually pretty well. I will come and update in a week or so because I want to give it time first and I'm worried that it will all go wrong lol!
Thanks for asking Dani 😃

If Isla had just gone to sleep downstairs with me I really wouldn't have minded but she screamed for practically two-three hours in the evening and for my own sanity I needed to put her to bed before she started screaming and crying! I really wouldn't have minded if she would have just dropped to sleep downstairs with us! My eldest always did and she was about 12 weeks before I even contemplated giving her a routine!
I no I'm really lucky but Isla only generally gets up once in the night, she feeds a lot in the day too make up for it!
I no this will probably change week on week but I felt like I had to do something!

Fantastic, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I find some nights E goes down easier than others, it's all about persevering ;).

Thankyou donna, I'm persevering and trying to get in a routine, I find the days so much easier to cope with if I no I have a good night time routine, thankyou x

Great it went well for you last night :) its all about what works for everyone individually :) hopefully tonight goes well for you :)

We started a nighttime routine with my LO when she was about 6 weeks old. Sometimes she would fall asleep right away in her basket, other times she would be awake and squirming around and I would sit next to her watching Netflix. Eventually she figured out that the routine meant it was time to go to sleep, I think it only took a couple of weeks before she would reliably fall asleep in the evenings after her routine. Good luck!
