Hi I was wondering if anyone has ever been induced due to having previous big babies without having GD x

I'm pregnant with my first and I'm being induced around 38 weeks due to GD and polyhydramnios x

I've always had big babies and never had GD and I've also always been induced, but never because of having had big babies - I've been induced because of being overdue.

Baby 1 was induced at 42 weeks, born at 42+4 and weighed 10lbs 10oz

Baby 2 was induced at 42 weeks, born at 42+1, and weighed 10lbs 1oz

Baby 3 waters broke at 41+2, no progression so induced later that day, born at 41+3, and weighed 11lbs 0.7oz

nobody has ever suggested that I should be induced early

I wish! lol :haha:

Nope, been told to do it all on my own again. TBH, the thought of a pitocin driven birth isn't appealing, even with a nigh on 11lber in my medical history (No GD here) as I've done it before, I know I can do it again. I've heard it can be terribly painful, and you're more likely to get complications. I think I'll just leave it up to fate and see what happens.

i haven't got gd but I have been booked in to be induced at 38 weeks because baby is measuring around 8lb already at 36 weeks

Can I ask why? Was your first small? Do you have any other reasons for an induction i.e. high risk? Just curious as I say I've not been offered anything (which is fine as I wouldn't accept anyway) but just wondering if there is anything other than the postcode lottery at play here?

My first was 7lb and 2nd was 6lb 9. I am measuring 5 weeks ahead this time and they feel that it will be safer to get her out before she gets to big as some people struggle with bigger babies

That's fair enough then - that's looking like a nearly 2lb difference when you take your last birth into account, and that's a big difference.

I hope it goes smoothly for you :hugs:
