So here my situation...
I am 20 years old (21 next month) currently 30 weeks pregnant and live with my parents at the moment but am planning on moving out in Jan / Feb if i am able to get housing benefits... I work 16 hours a week so will be receiving maternity pay through my employer...
but what else am i entiltled to and when can i claim it?

any help would be fab ive been searching all over the internet but it all confuses me so much !

Thanks ! x

Tax credits?
Child benefits,
Possible some housing benefit.

Think that maybe it, but my mind has gone blank atm.

Have you checked on the entitledto website?

no i havent but il have a look now, ive spent ages on the directgov website but it all confuses me !

Thankyou x

Hi, you might be able to claim the sure start maternity grant, if so it's £500 which you don't have to pay back :)
Unfortunately not everyone can claim it but it's worth looking into x

Citizens advice is meant to be good to let you know everything you are entitled to and help you with the paperwork. Try to get an appointment with your local bureau, I'm going to x

turn2us. org. uk is a confidential site that the CAB recommend that could give you advice of what your would be entitield to either living at home or with parents. I've rung them once for advice on what i would be entitield to in various situations. and they talk to you there and then whereas you may have to book an appointment for the CAB.

I am a single mum who started off on maternity pay.. this was bumped up with working tax credits, child tax credits and child benefit. They only covered half of my housing benefit and didn't pay anything towards my council tax as my working tax credits covered it.

When I left work i went onto income support...

So u lose working tax credits but still get child tax credits, child benefit, and income support.. I also get full housing benefit and council tax covered now.

The one thing I'll say about housing benefit is that when you sign the contract for your flat/house, you need to be able to afford the deposit and first month's rent up front as housing benefit is generally paid in arrears and there are fewer non-deposit schemes available nowadays. So you'll probably need about £1500 available up front to cover these and the agent's fees.

Hope it all goes well :o)

xx

well, im 23 and me and my daughter live in private rented house. i dont work, so am on income support, child tax credits, housing benefit and council tax benefit, child benefit.
if you cant manage to come up with the deposit ect, you can ask your parents to write an eviciton letter and the council have to rehouse you as you are a vulnerable family unit with your baby. im not 100%sure how it would work, but my mum helped me with the cost of the deposit, first months rent too. its a lot easier if you can get help from your family. and dont worry that some landlords dont take housing benefit. every flat/house i saw, said the landlord would accept me as i am a single parent and not a bum (to put it nicely). the council might also be able to help you with money towards a deposit. but it depends where you are really. well hope it goes well. x

When you work 16hrs so part time, you're income support changes to Working Tax. Working 16hrs you can't work an hour more or less, but you're better off money wise, working.

You'll also be entitled to Child Benefit, Child Tax, Housing and Council tax benefit.

I manage to live, you will too. x
