Hi, I am a teacher who is wanting to try to conceive about Dec.

I've been looking into benefits especially with the new budget today.
I want to know if I will be entitled to the sure start grant, I don't undertsand what the website says about how you get it. It says if you get income support or a child tax credit which is higher than a family credit, but I don't understand any of it and want to know if it is just for low income families or nearly everyone. I don't recieve any of the things it says but don't know if that will be the same when we have a baby.

Does anyone know where I can seek advice into these things?

Also by the looks of it if I don't get pregnant by Oct theres no chance of getting the HIP grant which is a bummer!

P.S if there is any teachers who are expecting or trying to conceive then please could you inform me about maternity leave.

Thanks.

i doubt you would get the sure start grant if you are working full time it is for low income families.

the best place to go to to ask would be CAB or the job centre i think

the best thing to do would be to plan your finances as if you were entitled to nothing then anything you do get is a bonus because theres no saying what the government will change next year.

You will get child benefit which is £20 a week though
