Hi there!

There are so many brands out there I am totally baffled!
I intend to breast feed but I am purchasing a full bottle kit.

I was wondering what do you feel are the best brand?
What is Tommee Tippee like? Read such a mixed response!

in all honesty its personal preference, i swear by tommee tippee where as my sister swore by advent, until he last baby where she swore by dr browns... it all comes down to (imo) how LO takes to the bottle and how the bottle feels for you to hold
i wouldnt buy a full bottle set until you know what kind of bottle you LO likes  some babys even prefer cheapie bottles...
personally i would try tolding a few different so you know what is right for you???

I haven't used Tommee Tippee.

I've used Avent and Playtex and of the two, I've found that Playtex helps PJ's Acid Reflux a bit more as the top is angled.

Thank you. I'm only 4 weeks pregnant but figured it would be best to educate myself as much as I can before Nov!

My advice would be don't buy a full set of one brand until you know baby will take them.

My 1st daughter was mainly breast fed, but when I did pump she won't take Tommee Tippee, which everyone raved about. She was also very colicky, so I tried Dr Brown, she hated them as the milk took too long to come out. I never liked Advent but my miracle live saving bottles where NUK, they also do the glass bottles.

Having said that my 2nd was combo feeding for the first 5 months and now soley on formula will only take Tommee Tippee, go figure.

Thanks so much. Totally off put by the full sets now!

NUK seems to be very popular!

I quite liked tommee tippee but u have a grumpy baby who screamed a lot so we changed to dr browns and they seem to make him a happier baby! :)

We've got a whole cupboard of different bottles as my son would have pretty much anything but as Avent were on offer we got those. When DD was born we couldn't get newborn teats for the Avent bottles fm from our Tesco so bought some TT bottles - she really struggled with those despite being breasfed as well she seemed to get a lot of wind. Not tried Dr B but heard good things about them but are a pain to wash sterilise.
When I was pregnant with my son I remember Avent giving out free bottles, maybe look on the websites and see if you can get a free bottle from each? X

We used Dr. Browns for a while, but now we're on Play-Tex drop-ins and I recommend those over Dr. Brown or Dr. Green. I feel bad about creating more garbage with the drop-ins, but it's reduced their spit-up and is so much less finicky to clean. Our boys only have one bottle each.
Every once and a while I latch them if only to calm them down and it hasn't seemed to affect their latch.

I love the Dr. Brown's- they were a godsend when my first was gassy and spit up alot. With my second I tried the TT and Dr. Brown's and he will take any of them, he isn't picky. If you are planning on BFing I would just get one bottle of a couple different brands and see which works best.

I used the playtex ventair with my son he was formula only but he still had terrible gas issues so with number 2 im going with the avent bottles up there with dr browns but less pieces to wash which i hated with the ventair. the Avent new natural ones only have the three normal bottle pieces. It really does depend on baby and nipple flow doesn't always have to be newborn just because there newborn my son would get angry with the slow flow haha

We exclusivley breastfed until he started daycare at 10 weeks old. The only bottle he would take was a playtex nurser with a laytex nipple. He was very gassy and would spit up a ton with these bottles. I switched him to the Dr. Brownes bottles and he loves them and is hardly gassy anymore. Hope this helps!

Dr Browns seems very popular.
I think I will buy a couple of different brands when the time gets nearer and see how we get on!

I intend to breastfeed but obviously still need bottles.

I was totally set on dr browns about the same price as avent here but all the pieces was just no deal for me wont do it again lol

Our Tommie (slow nipple) bottle squirts all over my LO's face. Too fast for her. Our best bet is the free ones I got with Similac samples. They are really slow and don't make a mess. LO gets 2 oz formula every night in addition to BF-ing. We stick her vitamins in formula to get them down. I have also used both brands with expressed breast milk and found the same thing....Similac are slower. I know they also sell the Similac ones, they sent me a coupon for them. I don't know where.

Avent naturals were terrible for us, didn't reduce gas and LO found the teat massive for his little mouth we had to wiggle it around to help him get the milk out. We changed to Dr Browns - godsend! And they're free flow so LO doesn't have to work as hard, this is great for sleepy newborns. Some people think they're a pain to clean but it's really easy, only a few extra bits to wash but not loads more work. I'd take extra washing up over a screaming, fussy baby any day!

I thought that might be a problem with the avent bottles nipples being really big guess we shall see. My son slept through the night at 3 months so I never had a bottle issue with him did have gas though and I hated all the pieces with playtex. Was set on dr browns this time but than started researching and I read it was a pain washing those little straw things and you have to use a special brush thing for them. Obviously don't stock up on one type of bottle because you never know is the moral of the story what works for one may not work for the other. Having a 3 year old already the less time I need to spend on washing bottles the better but if they work better than I would deal haha

Definitely dr browns ! Changed from tomee tipee on about day 4 and a lot less trouble with wind !
