Best Breast Pump

I breastfed my first daughter and want to do it again this time however, with my first I had a manual breast pump which took aaaaaaaages to fill a bottle. Thinking of investing in a electric one this time...any recommendations?

I had a Medela Mini Electric at first and it was fab. That's the cheapest they do. I wanted to be sure I was going to stick with BFing before spending a lot of money so I got it off ebay for about £20 but they at £55 new I believe. It was a great little pump but VERY noisey - saying that, you dont realise that until you hear a quieter one!
I now have a Medela Swing and it's amazing. Quiet - you can hear the TV etc over it the other you couldnt - and very effcient as it starts faster to mimic baby when they first start feeding (to help with let down) then goes to a longer more rhythmic setting. I would recommend both.

Oh and the Swing is about £90 new but I snapped up a bargain second hand on ebay for £55. You can get spares from expressyourselfmums.co.uk so I bought a new breast shield for mine. Obviously you dont have the warranty so it may be a gamble but if you get one from a decent seller you should be ok.

Hiya, I didn't know how I would get on with expressing, so I went to my local Sure Start centre, who loan super duper medela breast pumps out. I then rented it for a month. As it turned out I couldn't express a great deal but it helped stimulate my supply in the early days. Personally I'm glad I didn't invest in my own pump as it would have been a waste for me. I think you can rent them from your local NCT branch too.

Just a thought.
