So my due date was the 23rd June, and I had convinced myself I was going to go overdue. Well, Saturday night I went to bed just not feeling 'right'. Woke up a couple of times in the night with pains but just dismissed it as SPD pains. Woke up at 5am with the need to pee, and was wide awake so started pottering around downstairs.
Bang on 7am, I got up off a chair, and my waters went everywhere! My first thought was 'thats going to make such a mess' lmao. Anyhow, went and woke my partner up as the pains started pretty much straight away at 5minutes apart. At 7.30, my partner decided to ring the hospital just to let them know my waters had gone, and they decided I was to go to triage at 9am just to 'double check'. So toddled on down there, but by the time I got there, the colour of my waters was now a yellowy/greeny colour. They decided baby had pooed and wanted to keep me in, so was moved straight to labour and delivery.
Got introduced to my midwife (who was lovely) and got comfortable. Got examined at 10am and I was already 6cm!! Was still managing the pain just by breathing though them. Anyway, at 2pm they examined me again, and I was still 6cm, so they decided to put me on the hormone drip to see if they could speed things up. This was when I started using G&A.
3.45 I decided on an epidural as the pain was all in my back. She arrived stright away and put it in etc but it didnt start working until 4.20, and it was only down one side. At 4pm, the midwife noticed babies heartrate was dropping with each contraction, so examined me before getting the Dr. I was pretty much 10cm!! Anyway, the Dr came in to observe, and within 5minutes decided the baby needed to come out straight away. He examined me and found baby was facing the side, so had to rotate his head first. Then they wanted to use forceps as he needed to be out quickly. They cut me, put in the forceps and told me to push. After 2 pushes, Cooper Ryan Williams arrived at 4.28pm! It turns out the cord was wrapped around his neck, and his hand was stuck under the cord too. Couldn't really enjoy his first hour properly as I was being stitched up, and then my placenta came away ragged and in pieces and I also lost a pint of blood :(
The hospital wanted to keep me in overnight, so they could check my iron levels the next day and decide if I needed a transfusion or not. Was seen by a Dr the next morning, who decided I needed to stay in another night (not pleased!) My iron levels had dropped in 12 hours by almost 4points though. By 5pm that day, i'd decided enough was enough and discharged myself. Much much comfier at home, except when worrying about passing extremely large clots and one leg thats superbly swollen! Cooper is doing absolutely fantastically, and my partner is an absolute star too. Looking after him at night so I can sleep and recover. The only problem is Cooper has now decided he doesn't like sleeping flat on his back!

Btw, my advice to other ladies, don't bother with a birth plan. I don't think mine was even quickly glanced at at any point!
