title says it all really.....

Fin is on SMA now put its really not agreeing with him, colic, wind, constipation.... you name it....

hes been awake for the last 13 hours so in the morning i am changing this formula, i am ready to try anything!! i am losing my marbles!

Maybe try the comfort brands that Cow and Gate and Aptamil offer...they worked for a while with Caitlyn before it finally emerged she had an intolerance and was put on Wysoy. Sending you many :hugs: deary!

I heard Similac is pretty good, don't know from personal experience though.

I used Enfamil with lower iron which worked well. The extra iron can constipate them and make colic worse.

We're in the Enfamil camp as well. We used Gentle-ease which helped Claire alot. :hugs:

My Daughter is on SMA and it gives her quite a lot of wind too. My Sister-in-Law was feeding her little boy SMA but he struggled with colic & reflux so she switched him to Cow & Gate and he's a lot better. I've heard Aptamil is 'the best' although it's pretty expensive.

Also, have you tried giving him anything for the colic? Colief & Infacol are pretty good :)

cow and gate comfort and dr brown bottles worked for us. worth every expensive penny!

Summer had colic at an extremely young age like your LO. I would speak to your doctor and request a lactose intolerance test. My doctor made me do one because he said Summer was 'too young' to have colic and the only thing easing it was Colief which is apparently used to break down the lactase in the milk which is the ingredient lactose intolerant babies cant digest. I think my doctor is a bit of an idiot seeing as Colief says colic relief on the bottle but she believed it was for lactose intolerant babies so that could be worth a go :-)

Sorry for the long message and if it doesnt make any sense feel free to tell me lol. Summer is on cow and gate and has been since birth :-) x

I had the same problems with Brady on SMA, I tried the Aptamil Comfort and normal Aptamil but this didn't make any difference, he's on Cow and Gate now and I fine. I also use Dr Browns bottles which made a massive difference and I don't have to use infacol or anything now he's using the Dr Browns.

Aptamil and Cow and Gate are made by the same manufacturer so I don't see how they can be so different really, it's just what works for your LO.

Oh yes, forgot to say we use MAM anti colic bottles, they are cheaper and easier to use than Dr brown bottle

Thanks ladies, off to see the GP shortly so will see what he advises but i think cow amd gate seems the most popular there.... typical we would need to change when i'd just stocked up on sma, grrrr!

He's been on infacol from 3 days old and its just doing nothing.... he's been up 24 hours now with the very occasional 10 minute doze before screams, just feel so bad for him :(

Infacol didnt work for summer, neither did gripe water when she was old enough, the only thing that worked was colief :-) worked within 24hrs, was brill, just extremely expensive. Hope the GP can help. I think Cow and gate is a popular choice because it seems to be more gentle than sma and aptimal etc :-) x

i went with aptimal comfort in the end - we shall see, how long til i should notice a difference? i'll try cow and gate if that doesnt work.... the doc wouldnt give me colief, said its for lactose intolerance... so if i do end up havin to try it im not gonna be able to get it on prescription....

^^ exactly what my doctor said, they dont know anything, it really annoys me!!! Look at the frigging box! it says ''colic relief'' ffs lol xx (not getting frustrated with you there)

he got his baby book out to double check it and showed me what it said, needless to say, ive heard so many good things about it, i may just hafta buy some...

anyone know how long i need to try this formula for til i should notice a difference?

About a week probably. And the Comfort milk had got less lactose in it than the normal milk anyway.

I stopped giving Brady Infacol because it turns out that it was this that was making him really sick. It worked for a couple of weeks but then didn't do anything except make him really sick after a feed. Coleif is the only thing I didn't try I think!
