My DS1 was EBF and never took to a bottle no matter how hard we tried.

My DS2 is 95% EBF and took well to bottles until about the 2 month mark and then he outright REFUSED to have a bottle. We tried literally 10 different kinds and nothing we did worked. One day out of desperation, I tried some formula we had around (Similac for Supplementation Formula - it is supposed to be for moms who also BF) and he drank it like a champ, no questions asked. I'm wondering if he only wants my milk from me but the formula is different enough that he enjoys it from a bottle?

We very rarely use bottles, mainly only 3-5 times per month when we have a babysitter or when we are out in public at a time when I am unable to breastfeed, but since he only seems to want to take a bottle if it has formula in it, I was wondering what is the best kind of formula to give him? Is the Similac for Supplementation okay?

Thanks for any advice!

Whatever he likes and you can afford. There's really very little difference between formulas but they make small adjustments so that they can brand something new and make more money that way. It is sometimes trial and error to find one a baby likes /tolerates though. When I had to supplement for latch issues in the early days I just picked up the cheapest formula in my local shop and it was fine, other people have had to shop around more.

Question about the BM you put in the bottle. Was it frozen or oldish? Because with time lipase in the BM can change the taste and make it sour. Both my DDs wouldn't touch it, it had to be fresh! Have you smelled it?☺
