My friends SIL is a manager at Ikea and was telling us that a man complained about a BFing woman - he said 'you shouldnt let her do that here' :( She was being discreet but he'd spotted her with the baby up her jumper.

Her SIL pointed out that they are a BF friendly store to which he continued to moan about how awful it was at which point she told him if he was offended she suggested he leave!!! Nice one Ikea!!!

*groan* I have no patience for idiots like him. Hooray for Ikea!

GO IKEA!!!!!!

Why do morons like this still exist??? do they live in the dark ages???

If they lived in the dark ages there'd be no flippin option but to BF!!

men like that make me so mad, its like old people they go on and on about young people not bfing but when they do they say they dont want to see it, people just get over it

MEN!!!!!!! ARRRRHHHHHH!!!!! who is he to say that?? its the most natural thing in the world! sorry but that peed me off! GO IKEA!

What a jackass! Hooray for Ikea for standing up for what has got to be one of the most natural things in the world. I wonder if when cavemen ruled the world they had a special hut where women had to go and bf instead of doing around the campfire. *shaking head*

 I love it! I wish they'd say the same to people everywhere! I love Ikea - they even have a little section for BFing mums :D x

I breastfeed and I don't BF in public but that's MY choice! I'm just personally too shy.

I think this guy is wrong to complain especially as it sounds like her breast (the offensive parts) were covered. I wonder if he complains about Playboy, etc. being on the news stands... I doubt it!

I can also guarantee that the masses would prefer to feed the baby rather than listen to the wailing if they were hungry :) hehehe...

IKEA has worked very hard to be a family oriented store so I can definitely support their stance.

In addition, IKEA has to have the BEST changing rooms of most stores. We were there and LO needed a change so we saw that they had a separate room from the toilets and not just the fold down plastic table. Went in and the room was big enough to take the pram, daddy and baby in!! It has wash basin, changing table (proper one) and a chair for feeding!! Of course probably all promotional but WOW - I loved it!

Nice one!

There are some shops etc here part of the "breastfeeding welcome here" scheme and they are supposed to do the same if somebody complains about BF and tell the complainer to get lost instead of the BF woman, but I always wonder if they actually would. So good to know that the scheme works.

The new westfield shopping centre near me has the most amazing mother and baby rooms. Comfy chairs and tv. Private rooms. Its lovely.

I read that there is going to be legislation in the near future to make it illegal to ask a BFing mum to stop. Not sure how far off it is. I think its already law in some countries.

Some states here in the US have passed laws something to this affect. I am so glad. I think it is horrendous the way some bf moms are treated. Its appalling!

There is NOWHERE in my town center for BF mums. Not even in Mothercare!! :(

I don't think there's anywhere in ours either. I usually just hide in a corner or sit in my car. I can feed anywhere with my nursing cover but he likes to play with my face while feeding at the moment and it gets in the way  x

Yeah, Caitlyn likes to play with my face too. Actually, that's a lie, Caitlyn likes to try and rip my facial features OFF!

No, there is nowhere to breatfeed here, either. We ony have small none-chain shops and the Mother and Baby room definately does not accomodate the breastfeeding mother, which makes me wonder since I am going to try to next time, where would I go?!

Good on Ikea though. I am opinionated though and probably would have said "if you don't like it, don't look and get away from me." lol. Actually that is probaby more hormones at the minute .....

You think you would tell them to piss off but when it happens you're so shocked! :(
