Edward cut his teeth last saturday and I wasn't worried about biting as I hadn't felt them when feeding. Today I felt them and now I'm starting to worry about him biting me. Any tips on how to stop him doing it? or what to do if he does bite me? I don't wanna stop feeding him because of it. Help very much appreciated

Hebe doesnt bite. She's sqeezed down a couple of times but not bit as such.

If he does bite you can pull him into you so your boob blocks his nose and he will let go. That's my prefered method because I dont like 'no' at this stage. I have only had to do it once :D

My mum said me and my siblings beared down more whilst teething and she found that once the teeth had cut we didnt tend to bite whilst feeding at all.

Well Brenn was a biter, and it depends on when they bite. He went through a stage of biting when he would latch on, so I started putting my finger in first, he would bite it then I would latch him on. Later he started biting at the end of the feed. So I would pull him into me like MM said. If he did it duringa feed, I would d-latch him and immediatly put him down. This of course pissed him off, but he soon stopped doing it. Most babies will only bite a time or two, so I did have a rough time of it for a while, but it will pass.

Mine have all bitten and taken a while to stop too. I used to push them into the breast like MM said and then put them down on the floor so they associated biting with their milk being taken off them. Each drew blood at least once by biting down then pulling right back and their teeth/tooth at the bottom scraped don my nipple....it hurt like buggery but we got past that stage eventually:dohh::hissy:

Poppy has bitten me about 4 times. I think I may have scared her out of doing it again though as each time she did it I screamed REALLY loud. Didn't mean too, just a reflex and I have a low pain threshold! She always has her tongue on between her bottom teeth and my nipple so it doesn't really cause a problem most of the time. I think the times she has bitten me has been when she is at the end of the feed and is just playing around. So now I just make sure I take her off before she starts to nibble on me!

With Julian I used both the pulling in towards the breast - which ended up in him delatching usually - and I also unlatched him and put him down. He figured it out fast!

Will have to keep this in mind for if he ever decides to have a chunky munch with his liquid lunch
