So this is a bit late but haven't had much time for sitting and writing this! here we go...

I was due on the 1st Jan and on the 3rd I lost a little fluid, a tiny gush while I was taking the decorations off the tree, Didn't think much of it and the next day I thought I best ring the MW just to tell them. They asked me to go in that afternoon just to check my waters hadn't gone. I thought it would be yet another false alarm and that I was going to be pregnant forever!! When she checked she confirmed that there was some fluid pooling, just a tiny amount. Then said I needed to go into the hospital more or less straight away to be induced that day! kinda got nervous then after all the waiting it was gonna happen very soon!
When we got in they monitored me and baby was looking great and I was having mild contractions that I couldnt feel. we were taken to the Antenatal ward and after a few hours were told that the labour ward was crazy busy and no rooms available so I had to wait over night to see if things got going naturally and if not they would induce me in the morning. I was a bit disappointed as I felt 'normal' and thought I had no chance of going naturally.
WELL I woke up at 2.30am to wee and thought 'ouch something HURTS!' then i realised it was contractions! and it was really quite painful. Nothing like I'd felt before. So I asked for some pain relief after a while and the MW have me Codeine, did diddly squat! so I was put in a side room on my own which was better as I wasn't having to worry about waking the other ladies in the ward with me pacing and breathing lol (silly what you worry about!) After an hour of breathing through the contractions and them feeling pretty intense already I asked if my OH could come in as I was struggling on my own, and Being totally alone in pain isn't nice! Adam got in at about 5am and i was SO glad to see him, He laid in bed with me in a spoons positions and helped me breathe through, he was amazing. I soon needed more pain relief and was given a shot of Diamorphine ( which I hadn't wanted when discussing in antenatal classes! That soon went out the window lol) Its was HEAVEN i felt like I was floating and could barely feel the contractions for a couple hours. At 7.30 Adam insisted I eat something so we walked down to the canteen area with him holding my arm as I was a bit woozy, not a good idea I went all light headed and thought I was going to be sick, soon went back to the room. When the shot had worn off I had another. Couldnt believe the pain in between though! I was then checked and thought I must be at least a4 or 5, NO I was 1cm !!!wtf?! felt very frustrated already. I ended up moving back to the ward I was on again and my mum and adams mum came in at 12.30. they were amazing.
By 10pm that night I was only just 4cm. The contractions were coming thick and fast and I was having a job to stay calm and not tense up. It was agonising! In this time the girl in the bed next to me went from eating a leisurely lunch, to popping a baby out in the space of an hour! Everyone was progressing more than me. Was horrible. Then they said I may have to give birth on the ward as still no rooms on labour ward :( was trying not to panic, then my waters went properly and the the contrations went crazy, no break in between it was horrific I was climbing the walls begging for an epidural but everone was saying it was too late, I can see how it looked that way. u would think I was ready to push. But to my dismay was still only 4-5!!!
Then this amazing midwife turned up and said she had been called in to help out and she was all mine AND i had a room on labour ward! FINALLY! when she examined me at 11pm she said 'we should be ready to push by 8am I think!'
so. that was that. EPIDURAL and thank god it was the best thing I did as I didnt start pushing until 8 and had been in intense labour for 30 hours at this point. I was exhausted and seeing double, drifting in and out of sleep. Then the baby got stuck and after nearly 3 hours the doctor said I may need to go to theatre for a forceps emergency delivery if I didn't push harder. They had also put a monitor on her head as the external one would only pick up mine. The epi started to wear off suddenly and the pain was immense but I could feel what I was doing so I bloody went for it, somehow finding the energy and I remember my mum shouting 'yes thats it the heading is coming!!!'

Ellie Rose Biggs was born at 11.15 weighing 8lb 3.5oz and had a little cry then was put straight on me. She is so beautiful.
The pain went instantly and I felt incredible. I had 4 stiches in my labia (ouchie) but was on too much of a high to care!

Sorry its so long, it was traumatic and exhausting but I would do it all again for our little angel xxxxxxxx
