I'm a little confussed with the whole Birthing Plan and most of the time when I've read ladies Birthing Stories on here, they did have a plan to hand but they aren't stuck to at all and I know when it comes to D-Day and the 12th hour I'll probably have lost control and everything I was thinking out the window?

Also I'm Type One Diabetic so I know anything could change medically wise when it comes to the labour/birth so I feel restricted about what I can put in the plan?

Any help and advice please?!

I did not have a birth plan with either of mine, just went with the flow

I didn't have a birth plan. I just went in with an open mind and went with what baby wanted:haha: But if there is anything you feel strongly about that might be a good thing to write down or at least make sure your birth partner knows about it.

I can't think of anything to tell them before hand.. etc..

i've a few things, i want put accross

natural as possible, and talk me out of an epidural unless i am adamant
6hr discharge if possible
skin to skin immediatly and delayed cord cutting with no injection for placental delivery unless over 45 mins

NO VISITORS

The only thing I made sure OH and my Mom knew before was that if for any reason LO had to be taken from my room I wanted one of them with him at all times. And that I didn't want any formula given to him.

i had a birth plan in mind... water birth, as natural as possible, avoid pethadine and epidural if possible, baby straight on chest.

my birth- induced, continous CTG monitoring (no water :-( ), pethadine, sent to theatre for forcepts, spinal block, baby not coming, emergency c section, couldn't hold him until in recovery 45 minutes later.

i think its good to have a plan in mind but be flexible and go with it. good luck

I didn't have a birth plan and i ended up with a perfect birth. My midwife asked me what I wanted when I got there.. I think most of it goes out of he window anyway. If theres anything you feel strongly about tell your OH and the midwives when you arrive

i didnt have a birth plan with my first. i will be with this one though as i know what to expect now!!

I guess it depends on what you want.

I had one with my son, but I had also planned a very very natural birthing experince with him, it didnt last due to complications and had to be transfered to hospital where the birth plan was pritty much ripped up due to the complications.

Im not bothering this time, its twins and im leaving it in the hands of the professionals. If it wasnt then i would probably write one again and again try for a more natural birthing expereince, but its not going to be like that, its going to be very medically managed and very likely to change.

If your diabieties will complicate the delivery i would probably not bother or perhaps just write down points that are important to you. the other option is making your partner aware of what you (and he) wants and letting him advocate for you of needed.

I haven't made a birth plan as all its doing is setting me up for dissapointment it it doesn't go to plan. I just told MW do what you gotta do to get baby out safely.

My sisters friend said NO C-SECTION in her birth plan and she went with this till her baby nearly didnt make it, and was still determined no csection while her babys life was at risk.

Having a birth plan made me feel more confident that i'd know what I was in for, how i wanted it to go and that my wishes would be listened to when i probably wasnt in a fit state to verbally communicate them! x

I made a birth plan but diddnt get chance to print it off my laptop in time :haha:

I was really comfortable just going with the flow both times. I just wanted it as natural as possible with my second because I hated my epidural with my first

I never had a birth plan. I knew I was open to pain medicines and whatnot. I guess my birth "goal" was no induction and no c-section. Oh well. :dohh:

This is almost exactly the same as mine - what I wanted, and what I ended up having...except I had an epidural [which didn't work] then spinal block, and they managed to get him out with forceps.

Also said OH wanted to cut the cord, he wasn't allowed because LO was in distress, and they wrapped him up before putting him on my chest :(

Not sure I'll bother this time!
