Well I wrote on here that my waters broke Wednesday morning at 6.15am I went to triage and she said to go home and labour at home, by this point I could feel the contractions getting into gear.
So oh took me to my mum n dads so I could labour there while he went to work(he's self employed). Over the duration of the day the pains were getting stronger and more painful, it got to midnight and mum was concerned that I was taking the pain too well so off to hospital I went. Got there and was checked, I was a good 3cm but the criteria to be admitted is 4, so I got sent home.!!!!!!
Then the contraction really revved up then, they were really intense and I lasted until 3am like this and they were getting unbearable.......so off I went back to be assessed......she checked me and I was hoping I'd made it to 4cm......when she checked me she said I was a good 7cm!!!! I was that shocked I nearly fell off the bed!!!
So the midwife ran off to start filling the birthing pool while I was enjoying the gas and air. While she was gone I was having the feeling to push!!!! The other one was telling me not too as I wasn't fully dilated.....well if your body's pushing you can't help it......it's like being sick.....it's involuntary. So I made it to the pool and got in , actually pooped myself whilst getting in, but the pain was that intense you just don't care.
Once in the pool it was soothing and mixed with the gas and air the pains seamed manageable ish.
After an hour in the pool I said I REALLY need to PUSH. 2 pushes and his head was out.....1more push and the shoulder and body was out.
It all happened so fast and my gorgeous George is just the cutest thing ever.
Born 29th aug at 5.00am weighing 7 lb 9oz ;-)
Once he was here and because it happened quick he was a bit startled and his heartbeat was 60beats, after 5mins on oxygen it rose to 90 beats and another 5mins it rose the the normal 140 beats. And he's been great ever since. We've had to stay in a day so they can observe him.
Now because it happened quick I got a 2nd degree tear, the midwife took 2 hours to stitch me. She said I had torn withing the vagina so I had 3 seperate pieces, (like crows feet) and I also tore my perineum,!but not fully to my back passage luckily.
I have also got grazes on my foof too.
I had injections to numb the area first(which stung) then they have me has and air. And I felt quite a few of the stitches going in. Gas and air helped tho.
All in all even tho it was painful I got the birth I wanted in the water, my gorgeous son is perfect , and I'm so proud of myself for getting to 7cm all by myself at home, and birthing him just with gas and air.
My oh is so proud of me and said because I kept a lid on it and contained myself it didn't make it traumatic for him either.
The best tip I can give anyone is that the breathing excersizes really helped me (breath in for 3......out for 4) type of thing. It's the only thing that got me to 7cm ;-)
