So this post is well and truly overdue, I was due to have Bella by a hopeful VBAC on the 3rd August 2014 but everything went the total opposite of the way I wanted it to. It was 23rd June and I was at work training my maternity cover (it was her first day) when I started getting tummy pains, I went to the toilet but after spending 15 minutes in the toilet one of my work colleagues decided to rush me to the hospital. I was kept in Triage until midnight as the heart rate kept dropping and I was having terrible Braxton hicks. The midwives decided to do a preterm labour test but I just bled everywhere. I was kept in overnight and given a first set of steroids with the intention to deliver the next day. Overnight the bleeding hasn't stopped and Bella's heart rate kept dropping, so I was given the 2nd set of steroids and told to ring my husband who was at work. I almost didn't think he was going to make it but as I came out of the toilet he was there ready with his scrubs on, we walked down to the theatre and I was given a C2 emergency C-section and Bella Maria was born at 16:11pm on 24th June 2014 @ 34+2 weeks weighing 4lb 6oz. She was whisked away to the NICU and I was carried back to the Observation unit where I cried for ages because I wasn't able to hold my baby. Eventually at midnight I insisted to be taken down to the NICU so I could meet her, she was beautiful with dark hair and so tiny. I put my hand in her incubator and stroked her beautiful hair. The next day I was allowed to cuddle her. Eventually after 8 days of fantastic progress we were allowed to come home it was the happiest day of my life. She is now a 6 week old happy baby who now weighs 6lb 9oz and has completed my happiness in life
