I think this is allowed? Anyway... well this is a little embarrassing but thought I'd ask. Those who follow my wedding blog probably know I'm thinking about hiring out my wedding bits and bobs and working as a wedding stylist (that is basically a planner who does all the visual things; sets out furniture, displays, comes up with unusual ideas, does seating plan, can plan entire theme if needed etc etc) . I am wondering, for the sake of building up a good rep and a portfolio, whether anyone would like or knows anyone who would like either any hire items or any styling assistance, or both, for free? Travel costs would have to be covered but that would be it. I have everything tableware/sweetie table/serving wise; have chairs, tents, rugs, bath tub etc etc. Anyway I know it's a long shot but I thought I would ask!

Where are you emy? I could defo use some help. I am in cheshire and my wedding is after yours too 1/3/13

I have absolutely no decor of the venue sorted so it could be a complete blank canvas! X

If I was at the beginning of my planning then I'd JUMP at this...but I think it's a bit late in the day to be changing my plans now

Have you set up a Facebook page? The best way to get noticed is to find a local supplier page (bridal boutique, venue etc) and speak to them about offering one of their followers this freebie. That way you instantly reach 100s - 1000s of followers without having to rely on word of mouth  You've already got your wedding pictures to use as examples and you're very eloquent with your words. You'll have your own following and customer base in no time at all :)

Danielle I am currently in Manchester actually! OH is looking for a job so we could be moving but my parents are in the Lake District and I'll be storing my stuff in my dad's factory in Stockport so Cheshire is totally doable!

Aly I set up a FB page but I was waiting til after the wedding to finish it cos then I'll have nice photos to use and stuff. I'd feel a bit silly trying to get business with nothing to show, YKWIM?

Well the colours I have chosen are white, black with silver and I am on a budget. With you being on Manchester is fab! I drive so could provide transport. Manc is only like 30-40s mins from me depending on what part of manc you live x

I drive so that's not an issue, I just meant if you wanted large items (lots of chairs, for example) and I'd had to hire a van then obv I couldn't fund that. You're in Northwich, right? I know it pretty well as OH got a job there for about two days and then they found someone else before he started, so not moving there anymore but have seen pretty much every rentable house :haha: Anyway, it isn't far at all!

Do you have any idea of the theme you want? Perhaps art deco/modern/50s etc etc? Also, what's your venue and do you have anything in particular in mind that you need help with ASAP, to give me a starting point?

What I want is quite simple and elegant but I am open to any suggestions. My venue is a village hall am on my mobile at the min will try and send you a link but if you Google antrobus village hall it should direct you to the website where there is a floor plan etc.

Yes I am in northwich. Nothing that needs doing ASAP that I can think off, the next thing on my list was to sort the decor and the centerpieces which have been giving me a major headache! X

Sorry hun didn't realise you were on your mobile! I will start brainstorming things for you and post some ideas ASAP!

https://www.antrobusvillagehall.com/ here is the link. My son has stole my laptop and took it to his nans! Will be back on laptop tomorrow! X

I am guessing you're in the largest room with the bar? Few questions, sorry  you can answer when you get your laptop back.

-Will it be at nighttime so that the curtains are closed or is it during the day?
-Do you want the room changed entirely (brick walls covered, ceiling covered etc) so that it looks like a different place, or are you happy with it as it is?
-Are you using their chairs?
-Are you having round or long tables?
-Are you hiring their table cloths?

One or two ideas for centrepieces, don't worry about telling me you hate them, I think that's part of the process of figuring out your style!

- You know when people stack champagne glasses and have a sort of champagne tower? Well i was thinking you could do a very small version of this with maybe 10 stacked glasses and instead of champagne having cascading white flowers. You could do this extremely cheaply with baby's breath and one or two roses or peonies. I mean like this, but smaller and with flowers: https://www.luuux.com/design/champagne-fountain-hit-or-miss

-A chessboard with pieces on it (white for the bride, black for the groom) with little pieces of paper in the top (I have chess pieces with slits cut in to the top already as we're having them as place settings) and have a fact about the bride or groom on each one. Fun conversation starter for guests. Plus you could have a couple of vases too, to make it properly weddingy.

-Simply candles and flowers. I know you're not allowed candles, but they don't have to be lit! they'd look beautiful just being there. Or use candle sticks as bud vases and have cascading flowers, and then put white roses in silver vases.

-An old camera with old black and white family photos in silver frames arranged with flowers. Actually it would work with or without a camera. You could also have old movie posters if you prefer (there's something about monochrome colour schemes that make me think of film noir).

-Small vintage cosmetic mirrors. They just look amazing. Surround with flowers and unlit candles, or put on a silver tray. For some reason, I think these would look good with a pack of cards (only spades and clubs) fanned out on a tray next to it/below to add black and white touches. You could add sweet facts about you and your OH to the cards, too, or you could invite guests to write words of wisdom on them for you.

-Silver trays with these types of boxes on. Fill the boxes with either white flower heads of with sweeties for guests.

-Silver wine goblets with antique style jewels draped over them. This would look amazing next to a tall glass vase of white roses.

-I actually got inspiration from this restaurant name for this, but I was thinking you could make small reproduction road signs (white letters, black background, square-ish shape) in about A4 size with important street names such as the street you grew up on etc and have them propped up in the middle of the table. These could be table names, but I think it would make a really unusual centrepiece, and would look good decorated with flowers.

-Cake stands with black and white macaroons on for guests, and white flowers around the base.

-Silver and glass wine goblets filled with flower heads and/or sweets. You could even put them on each place setting and have the sweets as favours. You could take this further and position them in a cluster in the centre but also have silver bowls filled with black and white sweets (Hersheys springs to mind).

I think that's all I can think of for now. I read on your blog you were thinking about feathers so I'll give that idea loads of thought too!

Thank you so much for all of your ideas emy they are really lovely, all the retro, arty and quirky. But these are just not me, I think that the simple style that I am after is definitely not going to do your style justice and your full potential will jot be reflected in my wedding. I know there is somebody on here that el love your help with all of your great arty ideas Xxx

That's fine hun. I totally get what you mean, weddings are so personal it's sometimes very difficult to get in to someone else's mindset! I hope you figure out exactly what you want to do with your decor :)
