i have known children with this condition through having children who had stomach problems and have had to be tube fed from a very young age. from my experience children can do very well when the repair has been done. some children can have strictures where they oesophagus can narrow where it has been repaired but this can be dialated and they can continue. babies need help with feeding untill a repair is done. if this is done by a feeding tube you can help with these. we took our daughter home with a tube in her nose and did all care at home.
it all sounds very scary now but my children both have feeding tubes now at 8 and 5 and have notched up 30 surgeries between them but they are doing fabulous now and it has all become a very normal part of life.
