Hi All,
I'm at my wits end, have not been able to feed my son all day - he constantly bites me and as he has two little teeth on his bottom jaw, it really really hurts... I've tried the "No" and de-latching etc - he just laughs, latches back on and bites me even harder....
thankfully I have a pump and he's been taking some from the bottle, but I don't want to give up..
Please can anyone offer some advice/help? I'm really getting upset :(

Thanks

Bobby laughs when I say no to him - so I've started saying no, and then putting him down on the floor for a minute, and then trying again - I find he does it more when he's not really hungry... and he does it when he's falling asleep (he comfort sucks at bedtime)

it can be quite painful... really hope it's a short lived phase

I'd agree with putting them on the floor. If they cry, you can pick them up and try again, and usually they will latch on properly. I always find that she tries to bite towards the end of a feed when she's not really hungry, just playing. They have to change their latch slightly to manage this as their tongues cover their teeth when they are properly feeding, so when she's in a bitey stage, I watch to see the shift in position, then unlatch her and offer a teething ring. It's really horrible, but it should be a shortlived phase.

i aggree with the others, dont just delatch but put him down on the floor or away from you at 8 months they are learning to associate their behaviour with consequences so hopefully it will be a short lived phase, if its towards the end of the feed id just stop the feed there and then tbh if they are gonna bite then they are gonna get the boob removed and have to wait till next feed

Bethan does this too when she's tired, or got herself into a funny feeding position. Hurts like hell, doesn't it?! I don't know what to suggest, to be honest, as the unlatch/relatch thing usually works with her (after about the 9th go!).

Hope things get less nibbly soon, though!
