Black poop

My baby is just over 2 weeks old. It took me 3 days to have a poo for the first time but since then I've been on average once every 2 days. Trouble is its all been black. Is this normal or should I ask the health visitor about it? I thought it would go back to normal by now. So getting a little concerned. I would apretiate any thoughts/advice, thanks

Have the hospital put you on iron tablets? I had them after my first due to a haemorrage during my c section and they caused that.

Yes they have. Didn't occur to me it could be down to them. I've just googled side effects of iron tablets after reading your reply. Sounds like it's normal. Thanks for that. Would not have thought of that.

With the iron pill comes the possibility of constipation, so you may want to pair that anemia-fighting iron pill with a stool softener to reduce any unpleasant effects.
