Just wondering if anyone out there who has suffered like I am suffering.

I had a very long labour, 30hours with a forceps delivery 2 months ago.

For the first month my bladder was fine but for the last month I have had constant urine infections, had 4 lots of antibiotics and given samples and had some swabs taken last week but AF had arrived so I couldn't have one of them done.

Got to wait another few days for the results but I stopped my antibiotic last night which didn't feel like it was working much anyway but today I am constantly needing to wee again although mainly when I stand up!

I have also been given pills for an overactive bladder but they don't seem to do anything.

I was rubbish at doing my pelvic floor exercises before the labour which I am now regretting but am doing them now.

Its getting me down so much though, affecting where I can go out, my mummy friends are going on regular walks to lose baby weight and i keep missing them as its too uncomfortable.

I have no faith in my doctor, am sure they will give me the all clear again as they keep doing, they agree there is infection but they say its cleared and then 1-2 days later its back and this time it feels like its not going anyway, the antibiotics don't seem to be working, thinking the infection is resisting them as its the 3rd time I have had them.....

I am not leaking wee as far as I know but just want this all sorted, I had a traumatic painful labour and haven't had a week of not being ill since my little girl was born 2 months ago now!

Bladder issues are no fun at all :hugs:

Firstly, have they sent proper samples to the lab for testing rather than just using a dipstick in the Drs office? Have you had the same antibiotic each time or have they changed it?

Second, did you have a catheter at all while in labour or afterwards?

I had a forceps delivery with DS and ended up with a urine infection from having a catheter. The feeling of needing a wee all the time may be a bit of nerve damage from the delivery. It's not uncommon and settles down after a while. I had something very similar after clearing the infection although part of the problem was irritation/damage to the urethra making me feel like I needed a wee all the time but the sensation was in the urethra not the bladder if that makes sense?!

A great home remedy for bladder infections is D-Mannose, it's all natural and won't interfere with antibiotics but works brilliantly at getting rid of infections if they're not a more unusual bacteria. I've used it a lot in the past and cleared infections without needing any antibiotics (and they haven't come back).

I'm on my 3rd lot of antibiotics for a UTI since DD was born so I know how frustrating it is.

I did have a catheter in during and after labour yes. I am worried this has damaged something.

Swabs have come back clear but urine culture showed bugs although the antibiotics they gave me should have cleared them. But its worse than ever so obv not!

Do you know if your urethra was damaged or did you just think it was?

I am back at doctors tomorrow and have ordered some d-mannose like you suggested.

I never had it officially confirmed that the urethra was damaged as they didn't want further investigation to make it worse if it was but when I had the catheter put in it took 2 different people to get it in - the first that tried couldn't do it at all. The advice I was given by the hospital was to wait for it to heal! They did say irritation/allergy to catheter/damage was possible but only time will help. It does get better though, it just feels awful until it does!

I've got more antibiotics for an infection as although the initial ones worked on the majority of the bugs, some were left that were resistant to that antibiotic and so the symptoms came back. After retesting I'm taking different ones that ought to get rid of the remaining infection. That might be what's happened to you too, hopefully the Dr can sort it out for you tomorrow.

No more antibiotics prescribed as I was on the right one for the bugs got to do a bladder diary and going to get referred to hospital.

He has changed my overactive bladder pill as I think that's making it worse too. Going to leave it a day until start taking them though to get old one out my system.

D-mannose has arrived so started that too in hope I don't have to go to hospital.
