Had my section last Monday. Yesterday I was taken into hospital with a lot of blood from my scar area. I was sent home and told to take it easy and that blood count was normal. It was very scary. It then happened agin ti day and I went crack in to see about it, yesterday there was a puddle on floor and it was running down my legs. Today it soaked all underwear and was running down again. However it was explained to me that there will naturally be a build up of blood behind scar stitches and and the stitching will leave gaps to allow this to come out. It was also mentioned that they used to fit a drain to deal with this but have stopped as research doesn't think that's a good way if managing anymore.

Anyone else had experience of this? I found it incredibly scary and would have appreciated being told to expect some blood before hand.

That would be scary! I've never experienced that, but I would agree to take it really easy to try and let your body heal. If you are moving around during the day maybe put a loose bandage on it to save your clothes, but otherwise try and let it air out so a good scab can form.

Oh gosh, I've never heard of that happening! I've had two sections and on my second one they did fit a drain. Its hard to remember but I would say that about 200ml (a small cup full?) of blood/fluid drained out so I guess what they say about the fluid coming out fits with that. I think they should've prepared you for the chance of this happening!
