So lo is 3 days old and feeding like a pro!
She feeds for 20-30 mins at a time and goes on average 2 and a half hours between feeds now.
I think we may have had the latch wrong to begin with, or because she was wanting to constantly feed, but I now have really sore Nipples.
any advice on getting them to heal? I think we have corrected any latching issues as it's not incredibly painful when feeding, just slightly uncomfortable apart from the first few seconds when it's agony!

Also I keep being told breastfed babies don't need winding but if I don't wind her she is quite sicky. Am I doing something wrong?

Congrats on your new little one! As for the bleeding nipples I would suggest putting some breast milk on them when you finish nursing and allowing it to air dry. Then put some lanolin or something similar on them. Leave them open to air as much as possible and do not wear breast pads when you can avoid it. Be sure that LO is latched on correctly every time and if it is painful unlatch her and try again.

As for winding, yes breastfed babies do need to be winded.

Good luck!

Yes some be babies need winding, but more likely if the latch isn't quite right, but some need to burp even with a good latch.

Lansinoh was a saviour for me!

Lansinoh saved my entire breastfeeding adventure. My DD had a great latch from day one, but still some soreness as we both adjusted.

I was told they dont need burped either. However, my DD definately does!

My LO makes it obvious when he really needs to be burped, but I do it whether he acts uncomfortable or not so that it doesn't bother him later on.

We were also told we didn't need to wind but we definitely did! Not sure why people say that?

Another vote for Lansinoh here too!

X

Had a breastfeeding support person round today to check what I was doing. She said baby seems to be latching right so it could either be damage from the first day or 2 when she was constantly attached or she could have slight tongue tie. I'm seeing the midwife tomorrow so will ask her about tongue tie but ill persevere at the moment. She's definitely getting enough milk as she's pooing like a trooper :) xx

Another vote for Lansinoh from me as well as rubbing a bit of breast milk on them too. I had terrible sore nips for the first few weeks but nothing for a good while now.
