ok so weve all been informed that blood clots are more common after a major surgery like a csection and therefore have to wear the horrid stocking and some of us also have to inject ourselves with clexane (like me)
When does this risk decrease? after how many weeks? i suffer from anxiety and any twitch i feel in my leg i start panicking, omg is it a clot and im doing my own head in to be honest. I need some reassurance.
I had a section with my 1st 2 years ago and wore only stockings but this time im wearing stocking plus injecting myself with clexane and am alot more mobile than i was then, so surely the risk is lesser this time around.

Didnt want to read and run, I only wore stockings for 2 days whilst in hosp and had the injections for 7 days. I had a very large blood loss after the surgery and was so poorly but no problems with blood clotting x

I am sure you will be ok. Just keep mobile, keep your stockings on for a couple of days post surgery, you'll be ok, try not to worry.

I got a clot on my lung and was admitted to hospital for 4 days of high dose clexane injections. I was admitted 5 days after my section. I know how you feel about worrying about every wee twinge but if you had a clot you would have symptoms like severe swelling, pain, difficulty breathing etc. I'm sure you'll be fine - doubt worry! :)

i have been on injections my whole pregnancy due to having previous dvt and clots in my lungs (non pregnancy related)
i have to have them 6 weeks after birth as well...but know my friend after her section just had them for a week, and like other posters have said you would know. and as long as you keep mobile you be ok.its when you sit for long periods of time it starts causing a problem. keep hydrated and wear the stockings..as sexy as they are! lol

It depends on your own personal risk assessment.
Generally, the risk is highest in the first week. For some, mainly those with a history of clotting, the risk is still considered high enough to need to continue injections for six weeks.

As the previous posters mentioned you can help yourself by staying hydrated and staying mobile.

What do you consider "severe" swelling? My swelling in my belly area went down but has flared up again. I also am having some more pain and pinching in my belly. No breathing issues though.

You don't need to worry about the size of your belly. Swelling in just one leg would be a symptom of a clot.
Why are you worried, mymom? Is there a family history?
