Just a quick question..... I had a blood transfusion a couple of years ago and know that I can't donate now but I can't seem to find out if it means I can NEVER donate or if it's just for a set period of time. Does anyone know?

All I can find on your question is that anyone who received blood before 1980 can't donate? Would be worth a phone call to the national blood service hun. 0300 123 23 23

It is since 1980, so that means you cant. I cant either :(

That's a shame, thank you both. I think the info could be a bit clearer lol

My correction. I read it wrong in my tired state last night. It is since 1980 :( Sorry hun. They are narrowing the donor list somewhat. Surely if the someone had a transfusion, they should be safe anyway because everyone has the same checks? Hmmm... Confusing one there

You'd have thought so! Obviously just being extra careful.

I suppose they'll never know when something new will be discovered that they obviously couldn't test for before they knew about it. I'd rather they were extra cautious about it. It would be nice to be able to donate but I understand why I'm a reject due to medical history
