Blood in urine

Hi ladies, im 18wks and i am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? I have no pain and my urine looks clear but every sample i've given this pg results in gp/hosp ringing me to say there's traces of blood and i prob have a uti? I haven't taken antibiotics etc as i feel fine but is it safe to just ignore this entirely if it persists? Thanks

I wouldn't ignore it hon. It could well be a uti and you have no symptoms.
At about 7 months my urine was full of blood - bright red - all tests before hand had been fine and I felt fine apart from some discomfort on the morning I saw the blood. I never got a definitive answer why - it could have been an infection or I could have passed a very small kidney stone. I was started on antibiotics and all was fine.

I'd see a doctor about it ASAP. If it is a UTI, best get it treated sooner rather than later. Blood in the urine isn't normal. Good luck!

thats just it-my doctor knows but thinks its no big deal as its only a small amount and maybe he's right but im just not sure. Im in ireland and we have a combined care system where some of your appointments are with gp and some at hosp. Im due back at hosp next wk so will mention it again

Once (when I wasn't pregnant) a urine sample only showed traces of blood and the doctor said that that's not enough to diagnose a UTI. (I think after a more detailed urinalysis it showed that there was in fact no blood, so if your doctor is just testing with a strip there can be errors.)

If I were you I would request a culture just to be safe.

I am starting to learn to just trust the doctors though. They have a lot of experience and they know when something needs to be addressed.

I had that with my 3rd bub. And we never found the cause! I had my kidney and bladder scanned etc antibiotics and it was still there. Eventually it went away on its own but no one could tell me why it was there.

Thanks for all the replies. Christmas wk it showed up in a culture but last week at gp it was just a strip. Then yesterday i actually woke up to blood in my knickers- i have a subchorionic haematoma on all my ultrasounds which they're monitoring so its not the first bleed i had this pg. Had to go to a&e for a shot as im rhesus neg and they scanned and did urine again. Stick showed blood again so they sent off a culture so we'll see. I am on aspirin which i know is a blood thinner also so maybe thats making me bleed easier.

Oh and laila, hope you're well-i remember you from ttc boards/1st tri. I took a break from the forums when i was about 8wks 😃
