Hi ladies,

I had my midwife appointment today at 37+3 and in less than a week my blood pressure had gone up further from 130/88 to 138/90, I started out at 120/70 at my first booking and in 2nd tri it went down to 110/70 at its lowest. I also had other tests done last week and there was protein in urine but only a small amount which she was not concerned about all other blood tests were fine and showed no signs of pre-e. I have had severe swelling in feet and calves up to my knees. My midwife has said I have pregnancy induced hypertension and if it is higher at my next appointment that I will be monitored at the hospital for a plan of action.

I guess what I am wanting to know is has anyone else been through this... and what was the outcome. Were you put on bedrest, meds or induced? Just wanting an idea as to what could lie ahead for me as she stated at this point it will only go up? She did indicate that I would not go further than 40w max if it rises.

Any input or experience would be much appreciated :flower:

I have exactly what you are describing. Mild pre-eclampsia, severe foot swelling, BP creeping up, small amount of protein in urine. I was put on bed rest until our scheduled induction at 39 weeks. I think dr prescribed bed rest only because my job is physically demanding though.

Mine has started getting a bit higher the last few weeks. My non pregnant blood pressure is usually about 90/50.. really low. So during my pregnancy my blood pressure has been around 110/60 which obviously is still really good. The past two weeks it has been up to around 130/90. My doc didn't seem to concerned as there was no protein in the urine and I wasn't swollen. I can tell it has been higher lately as my heart beats faster and I have been more out of breath. Luckily I only have a week left!

Thanks for the replies ladies... have they talked about inducing you at all or will they just let you go into labour even if your overdue? Do they do any other certain tests?...just not sure what they will do at the hospital to monitor me?

Woke up to a headache this morning ughh hopefully only a couple more weeks of this max...I am not sleeping and just feel so unwell and tired all the time :(

I am joining you guys, I have gone from 117/70ish to....138/39 last night. Had killer head ache that I could not shift and throwing up, I have been signed off work till next week, and I need to go back in for further testing on Thursday, they have said my BP will be closely monitored if that's any help.
Other than that they have not said much other than I can't afford for it to go up any more or for my protien in urine to go up, but I can discuss this with them on Thursday. xxx

My blood pressure went up at the same stage of pregnancy as yours in my pregnancy with DD. I was admitted to hospital for a night and put on labetalol at 37 weeks, I was let home the next day. I was then seen regularly at antenatal clinics by both the midwives and consultant. I had lots of stress tests. They offered me a membrane sweep at 39 weeks and them I was induced on my due date (they don't normally like people with blood pressure problems going over).

This time it's already started going up and I've been put on medication since 28 weeks. I have weekly antenatal appointments and growth scans. Hoping to keep it down as much as i can so I can get to term. Hope this helps x

Had labetalol last time, but when it stopped working was induced at 38 weeks, led to emcs under general. This time saw consultant at 12 weeks was put on asprin. So far so good.

my bp was 156/85 on Friday. Sunday it was normal, but it was taken when I was laying down and half asleep. The doctor may want to induce at 37 weeks (tomorrow) to 39 weeks. no protein in urine. Waiting to hear back from him today to see what he wants to do.

Ok so possibly will be put on meds, my midwife said that I would not go overdue but was not sure if she would induce any earlier...I guess it is a wait and see game. I have to do more bloods today to test again as they are keeping a close eye on things and then I see her again on Tuesday.

Oh I just want this pregnancy to be over now he is term...sounds horrible but it has been one thing after another. I have also been battling with SPD from around 30 weeks, horrendous MS until 16 weeks and then acid reflux started as soon as that finished
I just had such an easy pregnancy with DD, I assumed it would be the same but nope :nope:

Flower 15: I hope the meds keep it down so that baby can stay in there until its ready :baby:

I am lucky as I stopped work at 34 weeks and took all my annual leave first so I dont have to worry about that side of things so just trying to rest and have started aqua fitness as I have found walking quite painful with SPD.

Biliboi: that is what I am scared of with induction that it will lead to EMCS as I had a good delivery with DD with no issues (apart from her being face up, which she was turned before pushing and getting horrible back labour)

We are nearly there and I can't wait!

I'm hoping that he arrives early before induction...not counting on it though. I will just have to be patient and wait and see :winkwink:
