Blood pressure worries

Hello ladies,

I am 24 weeks pregnant and yesterday at my antenatal appointment my bp was high 138/89 and I also had protein in my urine. They booked me in again for 2 weeks time but all day today I have felt really unwell. A bit sickly and a dull headache like I'm coming down with something.

I have been keeping an eye on my bp all day and it has been as high as 149/88 but nowhere nearly baseline at the beginning of my pregnancy which was 120/70.

I am a bit concerned as I have had pre eclampsia before in a previous pregnancy but I'm also a gestational diabetic.

I am not sure whether to phone the triage unit at the hospital now or wait until tomorrow. I just don't want them to think om wasting their time x

Hi there, as you have had pre eclampsia before, I'm sure you know how important it is to monitor it.

My pregnancy was fine, I had slightly high BP, a bit of swelling and small amounts of protein in my urine but at around 34 weeks, it went from nothing concerning to severe pre eclampsia resulting in induction, so dont ever be afraid to ring the hospital.

If I hadnt followed my instincts I dont know what might have happened, but I just didnt feel right and I was right.

I'm not saying any of this to worry you, with the proper care you will be fine, but just keep an eye on your symptoms.
