Hello :flower:

I saw my GP yesterday (UK) explained we're going onto our 15th cycle and have been off BC since October 2012, she has booked me in for hormone checks on Tuesday (while I am on AF) and for CD24 (progesterone) she will call me with the results, she did mention that OH may have to do a SA too but not until after my results.

Have any of you had these tests?

What do they test for, what if they come back abnormal what's next?

Hey didn't want to read and run, don't know if I am of much help as I'm in a similar position . I have just had my day 3 and 21 day blood test done. I haven't been contacted yet but imagine they will discuss them when I have my 1st fertility consultation in june. Also my partner has his SA on monday. I don't know if we get the result for that there and then. Good luck on ur fertility tests xxxx

Thank you, my GP said she will call with the results on 15th May as they should be back then. I tried Googling it but no one really updates with results/what's next...

Good luck to you too. Xx

I have had all of these tests plus some.

The CD3 checks for Estrodil (E2) , follical stimulating hormone (FSH), and anti-mullerian hormone (AMH). CD21 tests your progesterone to see if you are ovulating since you will produce the highest amount of progesterone at this point (I think). Not sure why they are doing yours later, unless you typically have a longer cycle.

If any of these are off, they may put you on a medication to help you ovulate, produce more eggs, or produce better eggs. If these are all fine, they will suggest your OH get a semen analysis to see if he is the issue. If he is fine, they will likely recommend an HSG or some other test to check your fellopian tubes.

Thank you, it's later because my cycles are irregualer, and around 30+ days.

That makes sense now.

Ah, yes. The CD21 is generally 7 days post ovulation, so now it make sense.

Ah, she didn't really explain anything just said it's for hormones, they don't give you much time to ask!

I think it may be a progesterone issue as I spot about 5 days before AF and I've read that could be a symptom.

They really don't give you much time!

If you are spotting 5 day's prior, it could well be a progesterone deficiency. Did you explain your spotting to her?

If it's not progesterone, it could be polyps or fibroids unfortunately which can cause issues. The only way to know, is with the hydrosonogram or a lap & dye.

Yes I did tell her but she never said anything about it. I don't think they like to give you ideas to Google haha.

They may not like you to have ideas, but at least you have ideas to give when they run out!

True, they took 3 vials of blood today, so now the wait for my after ovulation one. I only really started AF today though as I have been badly spotting for a week will that make a difference that I wasn't on full flow?

I was always told the first day of red flow is CD1. Spotting shouldn't count. You may want to call your doc and talk to someone (nurse) about it to see if you should redo it on a proper CD3.

Ok thank you, would it give a false reading? I will call them in the morning, my docs is terrible for appointments though it's usually at least a weeks wait!

I really don't know. I was told that if CD3 was on the weekend, they prefer you come in CD2 because after is too late. Not sure how CD1 would look.

I don't know much about this OP as my GP won't even refer me for help!

Been trying for number 2 for over a year now :|

Have you had bloods done babyjan?

Dazed - I'll give them a ring today and ask. CD2 today.

Nope! I was only referred for a scan because with my last miscarriage the sonographer said she could see a cyst so my gp wanted that to be looked at. Thankfully no cyst and the scan showed everything looked ok.

When I mentioned it's taking long to conceive my gp told me not to worry about that and if/when I get pregnant to see her and if miscarriage happens again only then she will refer me for testing.

My husbands GP referred him for SA which his had done x

Unfortunately Babyjan, they may not refer you until one year after your last MC. Sadly, they take it as you can conceive currently even if you can't hold it. It sucks, I know!

Here's hoping that your next one is sticky! :dust:
