I ended up having an emergency c section after my induction didn't progress and needed a blood transfusion during surgery. After surgery my iron levels went haywire (they were at the beginning of pregnancy and sorted themselves out with vitamins) and I was put in 3 lots of iron tablets per say for 2 weeks. I have finished taking these now and have continued with muti vitamins, change in diet etc. do you think its worth asking my GP to run my iron levels at my 6 week check to see if they are back to normal?

They may run them regardless. How are you feeling? I know that's an odd question to ask when your look after a newborn, but if your concerned ask. Sometimes it does take longer than a few days/weeks after birth.

I feel great now, I felt awful the first week but have got better quickly.

I went really pale etc after the c section but this has all cleared up. Just desperate to get signed off by my GP so I can push my buggy uphill etc!!

I seem to think they checked mine automatically, but there's no harm in asking.

I'm sure they will check but ask anyway if you're uncertain my hb levels recovered quickly after several transfusions and I never needed any iron tablets. I'm sure you would be recognising the signs of anaemia if they were getting low again although like ppt said looking after a newborn has very similar symptoms like tiredness and fatigue :) hope all goes well
