So I have let G use a toddler fork a couple f times to eat salmon and some other bits and he was really good at getting a loaded fork in. He also tried to stab at the fish himself a few times - much closer than he manages trying to scoop with a spoon.

Anyway the toddler forks we were given are metal prongs and I'm worried he'll hurt himself. Is it possible to get plastic pronged forks for LOs - not picnic forks coz they shatter. I know they won't be as good at stabbing food but they'd help him learn.

Here at walmart and target they have some like these, not sure if they carry them where you are

The forks are thick plastic, rounded edges so they can't hurt themselves and they won't shatter either

I got a set with a fork free with a baby magazine ages ago that seems fairly safe, Freya uses it fairly often and has had no injuries yet! It's bright pink but don't know what the brand is, sorry. You can get them though! :)

these are what we used

I got a spoon and fork set from our local pound shop, they are really nice, turquoise with lime spots and quite short so he can grab hold of them and not poke his eyes out! they are made of a rubbery plastic so they are easy to grip too :)

I keep meaning to do this! How did you guys encourage LO to start?

I have this one for Izzy from Mothercare, its good because it has the prongs for stabbing food, but also works well as a spoon if they try to scoop.

We got a knife, fork and spoon set from Asda - their own little angel range I believe

I know Ikea sell plastic baby/children cutlery in packs :flower:
