Boiling water for formula

I noticed a lot of you girls use the kettle to boil the water for formula.

Are you using just an ordinary kettle for tea? Does the water truly get hot enough to be sterile?

I dont own a kettle, people here dont drink very much tea. So Ive always boiled it in a pot or used bottled water. Thats what the visiting nurse told me to do.
