I've heard that bottle fed babies sleep better and cry less, just wondering if it's true? And if that's a good or bad thing??

totally not true! Some do have a tendency to sleep better because formula feels them up - I add rice cereal to my babys bottle so he sleeps through the night (and he loves the taste!).

But there is no way bottle feeding has anything to do with their behaviour.

I think what people forget is that babies cry because it's the only way they can communicate!! You actually want your child to cry, so they can start to figure out what they like and dislike, and what works and doesn't. I've never BF'd but both my boys have been very happy little individuals (very lucky in that respect), only really crying when ungry or tired. But, I would expect this from all babies, regardless of feeding. Problems and extra tears should only occur when there is a problem such as reflux or colic, which the baby to be uncomfortable or in pain. No matter how you feed this can't be avoided.

I wouldn't say so, every baby is different! My LO is bottle fed, and she sleeps from 9am - 5am, up for a feed, then back down until 9am. If she was breastfed she'd probably not sleep that long as formula fills them up more! Some days she can be an angel, others a little devil!! :haha: and I really don't think feeding has anything to do with it.

I think this comes from the fact when FF you know how much food LO is getting therefore it can (not saying it is) be easier to know when they are hungry or not etc.

Each baby is different though.

Dont think its true at all tbh my LO was bottle fed and still doesnt sleep through, he was/is an awful sleeper, i dont think how much or what they eat matters at all its more the individual baby.

Not true so far in my case. My son is a terrible sleeper and he has a lot of fussy time during the day.

On average formula fed babies tend to sleep for longer periods when they are young, bf babies tend to catch up later down the line. However I wouldn't say they cry less, a lot depends on the baby's personality but also formula fed babies are statistically more likely to suffer from colic and other wind or stomach related issues when they are young which can result in quite a lot of crying.

finley's never been bf and he barely cries. he's slept all the way through the night since he was 5 weeks old so it could be true... then again i never bf so he could have been just the same if i bf. who knows :haha:

Not true at all, Do not choose to bottlefeed because you think they are better behaved as when you have your baby and bottle feed and it doesnt work out that way you might rergret not bf. every single baby has a different personaly. food is food. not every person reacts the same when there eating the same food do they?
My daughter is the happiest little girl and she was fine and happy on my milk for 6 months till i decided to switch to formula because I was pregnant. but everyone says how good she is and she only crys when somethings realy wrong! :)

Original poster, alot of people do do this but its not the current guidlines and can be a choking hazzard ( obvously it works for some people) but I wouldnt. xx

Rice cereal should not be given to babies under 17 weeks of age, and then it should be given in a spoon not a bottle.

Some babies are easier going than others, I think it's more a difference of personality than what type of milk they are drinking.

OP- just wanted to say I breastfed for 6 months and new EXACTLY what my daughter was having. because I exclusivly pumped, and she got my breastmilk in a bottle. there are so many ques to notice if a baby is hungry though, as your baby gets older you pick the ques up even quicker :)
