Hey girls,

I would love to hear stories of mums who have bottle fed from birth!!! I mean no colostrum no anything just bottle feeding...

I would love to hear how their los are doing, if they think their immune system is weaker because they are bottle fed? and how it has affected them in general?

I will be giving birth soon, and bottle feeding from birth, so i guess i just want to read some stories for reassurance....

thanks so much girls

Both my boys have been bottle fed from birth and both are perfectly healthy, their immune system is fine considering they are always the last (if at all ) to get anything that is going around i.e colds ect. Dan is 11 and is very, very rarely sick, the only thing both my boys have/had is asthma, Dan has grown out of his and Dec hasnt used an inhaler since he was 9 months old !!!!!
I dont think this has anything to do with the way my boys were fed but they are both very very active, Dan is involved in every sport his school has, tennis, swimming football, gaelic (sp), hurling and cross country, he is also a member of a football team. Dec is football mad and he is only 17 months so I think he is going to be like his big brother.
So has you can see the way my boys have been fed has not affected them in any way what-so-ever, oh and Dan was always in the top 5 in his year and Dec had the skills of a 2 year old at his 15 month review, so they are both very smart as well. so a bottle feeding success. xx Good luck hun xx

Hi Hun,

I have bottle fed my daughter from birth and she is now 6 and a half months old and only had one cold that lasted 3-4 days.
I personally don't believe it affects the immune system as they preach to us. My daughter is perfectly healthy with no problems.

Don't worry about it hun xxxx

I bottle fed all my 3 from birth and they never seem to get anything that makes them ill :happydance: u may av read about sam not been well this is just because he has kidney reflux and coliac but thats not cos he was bottle fed hun x
Hope this helps :hugs:

I've bottle fed Seren from birth and she's perfectly happy and thriving!
She's had a couple of mild colds, but they passed after only a couple of days... She's developing really well, and hitting all the milestones as she should. I don't think she could be any healthier/brighter if she was breastfed! x

Hannah has been 100% bottle fed. She's caught one cold in 8.5 months and even than it wasn't that bad of a cold (never ran a fever and got over it within a couple of days). I don't know what really to say, she's doing great, always gained weight wonderfully. She's extremely active, always has been, and has only been sick that one time

Olivia has been bottle fed from birth, and has not yet had a cold or anything, and is gaining weight perfectly! She had a very mild eye infection, but that passed within 2 days with no medication.

My first two children were completely bottlefed, and neither of them have very many coughs or colds, in fact none really until this year when they started nursery/school.

Emily and Jack were both bottle fed from birth
and neither of them have ever really been i'll as such, the odd high temp and sniffles but that is it, no Ear infection or anything

Jack has never had antibiotics and Emily has only had them twice in nearly 11 year
and Emily is in all the top classes at school

emilys 8 days old now and has only been bottle feed
and she's doing perfectly, weight gains normals
and she seems healthy and happy!!

xx

Hi hun :) My little girl, Elyse, was born March 13 @ 6lbs 1oz and by March 30 was up to 6lbs 11oz. She has never had the boob; 100% bottlefed from the start & she's doing great, healthy and happy, no health issues thus far. *fingers crossed* (not that I'm worried, I just don't want to jynx myself! lol)

My siblings and I were all bottlefed.
My brother - 15 - bottlefed 100%, no health issues, never gets ill... really I think the only illness he's had is the chicken pox!
My sister - 17 - bottlefed 100%, no health issues, never gets illl.. again just chicken pox really, and those 2 got them because I caught them!
Myself - 19 - bottlefed 100%, and I get sick all the friggen time, always have since childhood, every year I'd have pneumonia or whooping cough, strep throat, I'm the first to catch a cold, and now I've had a c-section it's taking me forever to recover from!

^ That being said I don't think it has anything to do with breast or formula feeding, it just varies from person to person.

Lola never had a drop of breastmilk in her and she is only caught one cold in her 6 1/2 months. She's a very active, happy, easygoing baby, very clever and the two of us have an amazing bond.
I can truly say I never had stresses with feeding her.

Dont worry, there are too many factors that go into whether a baby is happy, healthy, smart etc other then whether they are bf or ff. The happier mummy is, the happier baby is.

Thank you all so much girls for taking the time to answer my question, i cant tell you enough how much better I feel!:happydance:

Their is an insane pressure to breastfeed over here (australia) and even though i cant due to medical reasons it doesnt seem to ease the pressure I always get told just to consider taking panadol or other pain relief before each feed (i cannot believe this would be good for the baby AT ALL) a constant supply of pain relief?!.. Then the pressure I guess is followed by guilt , thinking i might be causing my baby to get sick etc. So i just wanted to say the biggest thanks ever, as all your stories helped me sooo much!!!
I feel alot better about my decision!
THANK YOU< THANK YOU< THANK YOU
