Our baby is 1 month old.

We are pumping breast milk and bottle feeding it to our kid immediately afterwards. We've only done this for 2 days and for the day time feds, as my wife's breast hurt a lot if she is consistently breast-feeding. We keep the breast feeding at night.

Both the pump and the bottles are cleaned and steam sterilized right before using them.

The baby will drink around 100-110 ml each time and does so in 3 times within 45 mnts, between each time we burp him to make sure he doesn't get to much air i his tummy.

Now the problem is he is getting diarrhea right after being bottle-fed the breast milk (never happened while breast feeding).

Has anybody experienced this? Any suggestions? He drinks the bottles quite fast, can it related?

Thank you all for your help.

It's normal for breastfed babies to have very water poo, quite often during or immediately after feeds, and it's often mistaken for diarrhea. Does he seem unwell?

Otherwise he seems fine and has a healthy appetite, but he never had such a watery and smelly poo before.

If you're concerned I'd take him to the doctor, as you don't want him to get dehydrated if it is diarrhea. The fact that it smells worse than usual could be an indication that something's not quite right. If you're sterilising the pump and bottles immediately before they are used and using the breast milk straight after pumping it's very unlikely to be due to that, but he could have a bug.

Some of this information might help:

Thank you for your quick reply.

We are checking with him but after breast feeding the baby everything is back to normal. We'll see.

Thanks.

Hope everything's ok. No harm in speaking to your doctor if you're concerned, as they can give him something for dehydration if they think it might be an issue.

Thanks for posting ! I was wondering the same thing- my babys poo is quite watery.

we call ryhs the master blaster as he just blast his poops out in one and they are quite loose as well i assumed it was normal for breast fed babies all his feeds are expressed feeds as he cant breast feed himself. he has a few formula feeds.
xx
