I would assume what they mean is that they don't want you to use bottles you made up at home and bring in (as they can quickly go bad, especially without adequate refrigeration). Most hospitals won't offer you a fridge for storing formula. I would imagine that's what they mean. But you can probably use the pre-made bottles that you don't have to make up (the ones where the whole bottle is disposable) because they don't require cold storage or any specific handling to make them safe. Otherwise, bring a milton's bucket or electric steriliser, bottles and the ready made cartons of formula. Keep everything close to your bedside (someone will probably have to help you get and lift baby anyway, so they can hand you anything you can't reach) and then when your partner or other visitors come, they can do the washing and put everything back in the steriliser. When I was in hospital with my daughter, I was expressing and using some formula top ups and this is what we did. The bucket for sterilising was by the bed and my husband washed the pump, all the cups, syringes, whatever when he was there and put it all back in for sterilising. I didn't have a c-section and didn't actually even give birth in the hospital, this was later on, but I still didn't need to wash anything up. You'll probably have plenty of visitors who can lend a hand.
