Hello there,

Just after some opinions really.
I was wondering which method of bottle warming is cheapest?
We have been using the kettle since Jake was born but we didnt realise how many times it actually goes on. And we know its expensive to keep running a kettle.

Do you think it would be cheaper and more economical if we were to buy an electic bottle warmer??

They both use electicity to heat something up so I dont know if it would make much difference. But heating a kettle uses alot of electricity to heat the water

Many Thanks

x

I'm no expert on electricity usage but I would say that a bottle warmer is much more economical.

The bottle warmer only heats a tiny amount of water compared to the amount bolied in a kettle and it heats up much quicker too so that'll mean it uses less electricity as well.

We got a bottle warmer recently after using the kettle to warm for the first few months and it's SO much easier with the warmer! I would highly recommend getting one.

I would say the bottle warmer is better usage wise, it only heats such a small amount of water in comparison to the kettle! We got a bottle warmer the other day & I have to say its FAB!

I'm contemplating getting a bottle warmer, but not sure really. My kettle is so loud it's not the best thing when warming up a bottle at night.

What bottle warmer do you ladies use? I've heard they can be pretty bad and not heat the bottle properly. I'm using avent bottles.

I hated my bottle warmer (Avent) and used it for about a week before going back to the kettle and a jug. It took ages to heat a bottle through and I had to make sure and put in extra water or the milk would still feel too cool. It was much easier to boil a small amount of water and use it, especially for night feeds

Thanks people. I may get one to try ill get tommy tippee one as that the bottles we are using.

X

I had the Tommee Tippee one for Amy and it was useless. Once her bottles got bigger it took forever to get the milk warm compared to the good old kettle and jug.

Although personally I'm a 30 seconds in the microwavwe and shake like mad girl :)

We have a Nuby Deluxe that can also be used as a sterliser! I found it in Boots and couldn't ind it anywhere else. It only had 2 reviews but they convinced me and to be honest it is probably the best thing we have bought. It was £30 but worth every penny, I found as per the reviews you need to adjust the water amounts to suit your needs bu I wouldn't be without it now. It does take wide bottles but not sure if it would fit tommee tippees xx

I don't know usage wise... But I HATED my bottle warmer! And ended up using a kettle. x

We have the Tommee Tippee bottle warmer. It's abit of trial an error at first to know how long to leave the bottle in for for it to be the perfect temp and at what setting depending on how quick you need it.....but once you have it figured out it's great! We find it so much easier than waiting for the kettle to boil.....even with the min level of water is seemed to take forever and then you still have to wait for it to warm once you've poured it in the jug!

Im not sure which is best moneywise but I LOVE my bottlewarmer. I have it on my bedside table and take the bottles up in a freezer bag with ice packs. I found it hard getting back to sleep at first so we quickly set up this routine. Dont have to take one foot out of bed or switch a light on or anything.
Its great

xx

We used a kettle in the early days. Tried a bottle warmer at a friends house once but LO got very upset with waiting so long! Really though, the best way I have found to heat a bottle is the trusty microwave! Saves so much time and stress, especially for those middle of the night feeds.

Honestly, I just use hot tap water. We have very hot tap water, and I fill a jug and let the bottle sit in there for a few minutes and it works just fine. I use Playtex drop ins, so they heat up pretty quickly, but I have done it with the NUK bottles as well and it works, just takes a couple minutes....but I figure boiling a kettle takes a while too, so it doesn't really make a difference time wise.

Tried two bottle warmers and thought they were useless so used a jug of hot water before I discovered how fantastic a microwave really is!

30 seconds, ping, shake furiously on the way to bubba and feed. Plus the quicker I get him the bottle the easier he goes back to sleep!

My lo almost 12 months now and I have always used the microwave. Just give it a good shake and always check the temperature xx

I just use the microwave and give it a good shake. Always worked well for me.

xx

I was using the kettle n jug routine to start with, but quickly changed to microwave! So much faster n easier in the night, you do have to go careful you don't over heat it and shake well but we never had a problem, xx
