Hi Ladies,

We're still new to full-time formula feeding so just have a few questions.

We're about to go on holiday (to Langkawi, Malaysia) and I'm not happy to use the tap water there (even after boiled) to make up LO's formula. I plan to buy bottled water (e.g. Evian), which I assume is ok? I remember once reading something about mineral levels in bottled water? If ok, do I still boil this water, now that LO is nearly 10 months? (I couldn't get a clear answer when I googled)

Thanks :)

i would guess its better than the malaysian water, in the us they use bottled anyway. and its not forever either, so short term i would say it would be fine, but, have you considered just using ready made :)

I use bottled water since birth (we dont have fresh water here). Evan is not a good option as it's loaded with menerals. Get sth that is not volcanic or spring water. U can always use the local bottled water as it's sterile water with minimum minerals. U dont need to boil bottled water, just heated to the temperature u need to use it at.

we used bottle water when we went to Scotland and had only water off the hills with no treatment.

I still boiled that! neurotic!

LO was none the worse for it for a week.

Have a fab holiday...

Thanks Ladies!

Yeah, I tried the ready made last week but it (Aptimil) seemed to look and smell a lot different to the powered stuff and LO was not a fan.

I will look out for a non volcanic/spring variety and as mentioned, 5 days isn't going to cause a huge build up in his system anyhow.

Thanks for the advice :flower:

I was told in the hospital by a midwife who trains other midwives that you shouldn't use bottled water because it has different minerals etc in. Could you not bottle some tap water, pack it in your case and boil that up? Kind of heavy I know :( I would check with your HV to find out which is the lesser of the 2 evils.

The quantities of water needed for that long would make that difficult. Good idea though. I think as it's only in the short term (a week) and he's older (10 months), I'll go with the bottled stuff.
