Hi,

I'm planning ahead a little but I was wondering if you ladies could help me with a question.

I plan on BF mainly and expressing 1 feed a day (or more) so my OH can have a turn at feeding the little one from 6 weeks on.

I just wondered if you have to get the same time of bottles as breast pump? The reason is, I've heard really good things about the Mendela and Avent pumps, but I've been given lots of unused, still packaged tommy tippee bottles that my sister couldn't use a few months ago as she didnt' produce any milk. Would they fit another brands breast pump?

Any info much appreaciated, Thanks!

I think Medela only works with Medela and Avent (you have to get an Avent converter). Not sure about the Avent pump though. If you really wanted to use those bottles you could always pore it into those ones once your done pumping. I like to use Playtex nurser bottles the best because he switches back and forth between breast and Playtex nurser fairly well, so I just pore my milk into the bottle and store it in the fridge until my OH wants to feed.

I've got the Avent manual pump and I think only the Avent bottles fit on it, but I was given a few other bottles and have just poured the milk into them when I want to use them.

I use a medela pump but the pour the milk into tommee tippee closer to nature bottles to give to Hannah

I have the avent pump and it worked really well to start with but for some reason (maybe just because I'm being stupid) after it had been sterilized a few times it's lost a lot of it's suction. I think maybe the steam sterilizer has expanded the seal. Now it doesn't really work at all so I just hand express a bottle a day. It's a lot easier to do than I thought it would be but maybe not as quick as if I has a pump.

Thanks guys that's really helpful. I didn't realise you could just pour from one to another. :dohh:

Wishing you lots of luck and happiness with your babies

i had Medela. then had avent bottles n i just poured breastmilk into them
